I am not sure if dogs can or cannot see ghosts, or spirits, or anything like that but i do know that a dogs vision is much different than our own. One of my dogs has had a fit over our ceiling lights. I believe that maybe their vision makes the light seem bigger than it is, or have a halo affect. He would go into the room and duck while staring at the light and crouch around the room so he didnt ahve to go under it. I dont think he was seeing ghosts, but maybe it looked funny to him and spooked him a little. Perhaps also there is a problem with your dogs vision. It may be a good idea to get the dog looked at by the vet just to be sure this isnt the case. And also dogs can haer much better than we can so maybe he hears something far away and wants to ward it off. And maybe they can see things of the spirit world, in that case i would get a Bible and start praying to get rid of the evil in your house!
Oh yeah and my dogs bark a lot at nothing, we have decided it must be squirrel farts, maybe this is the answer?!

It may be a reflection like a flash off the mirror of a passing car. It may be something he smells or hears. Then, too, there are dogs that are just nutty. It'll act like it saw or heard something and start barking and growling and running around. The other dogs don't even know what it's talking about.

Well, barring the actual existence of actual ghosts - it's important to remember that your dog can see and hear much more than you can. Often my dog will start barking or growling at the door long before the mailman reaches my hearing.

Absolutely! My dog does the same thing. Dogs r on a different level than us and haven't had the corruptions, nor negativities associated with seeing a spirit. They aren't told there is no such thing, or that they are crazy, and because they don't know any better they are completely open to it. Not 2 worry, if it was a negative energy your dog wud let you know, but seeing as all your dog does is bark, it's just acknowledging the prescence of the spirit, like saying "hi, I know you are there".

yes, ghosts are real not the way hollywood made them though, real ghosts are usually just a small bright light or a shadow, they are souls of those who could not make it to the other world because there was too much stress or depression on thier shoulders, your dog has smells and sences that you dont so yes having a ghost in your house is usually a bad thing unless the spirit is kind so try to talk to the spirit and help it or get it out of your house, or just get a bible that may help.

Well, it could be a fly or mosquito that you don't notice, but the dog is trying to follow. xP My dog does that sometimes...

But also, one time my dog had just killed my cat over a chicken bone. Well, that cat's sister was also inside and later that day, I was sitting in the chair, and she was standing on the arm of the chair... Then, she looked up, as if she saw something... I looked and didn't see anything at all. She stared at this one spot, just focused on it, for a good 5 minutes. And then, she walked over to where she was looking, and just stared for the longest time. She walked about and around, as if she was with another cat... Then, she came out of it, and came back to me. That whole day, she just wanted to be with me, and followed me everywhere. She also meowed a lot, b/c she had just lost her brother and she was lonely... I don't know what it was, but it was weird...

maybe. my dog does that all the time. sometimes he looks up and just stares in the middle of the room at someone but there is noone there he alsoseems to be intimidated of it. I think they have a pretty scary life. Everytime I leave in the morning he runs and hides under the bed like there is someone coming to get him.
the know more than we do definitely. Do you ever talk to your dog? They seem to understand everything you say. My dog is also a highbloodpressure dog. Everytime my bloodpressure goes up he jumps on my chest and starts to cool me down. They are very smart. A lot of people undervalue them.

When my dog could see and hear (she's 17 now), she would bark at things that we couldn't see. And if someone asked what she was barking at, our usual reply was "Oh, she's barking at the sun, the wind, the moon, and the stars."
