A tick is a small bug that digs it's head into your skin and sucks your blood. They sometimes carry disease, so you should have them removed by someone that knows how to. Otherwise the head could come off in your skin and infect you more. I have had hundreds. Yes I care if I get them and I simply remove them. No I'm not allergic.

then like the guy says
they are the insect version of vampires
there are several varieties
wood ticks can make you very sick
they can hang around on the edges of branches for a year until a animal walks by ,then it blows it self up with blood and reproduces
they mostly get onto animals ,and too many can even kill a sheep eventually
that's why sheep cows ,goats are dipped to treat for ticks
dogs and cats have powders, soaps ,collars etc.
a variety of products exist to combat ticks
if a normal tick gets on you it is a horrible thought
but more than likely, nothing will happen if you discover it quick enough
dont pulll it off as the head may break and stay in your skin causing infection or worse
burn it of with a lighter or a sigarette

Okay. You have to be a little more specific. There are two kinds of ticks. The first one is a spontaneous twitch of the muscles in the body, like constant winking or jerking your head. The second is a tiny blood sucking creature mostly found on dogs, cats and animals but they can attach to humans as well. The female tick sucks blood from its host to fertilize her eggs. They carry a variety of diseases so it is a good idea to steer clear. There, does that answer you question?

Ticks are bloodsucking insects. You can pick them up from your pets or from walking in fileds or woods with exposed skin. Some ticks are clearly visible, but deer ticks aren't much bigger than the period on this page and they are the dangerous ones beause they can be carriers of Lyme Disease. Lyme Disease often mimics flu symptoms and can be hard to diagnose, but if left untreated, can lead to serious health problems.
I've heard that the best way to deal with one if you find it on your skin is to put a drop of vegetable oil on it and wait awhile. The oil smothers it and it can be picked off later. If you're walking in tall grass or woods, wear long pants and socks.

Tick is the common name for the small arachnids that, along with mites, constitute the order Acarina. Ticks are ectoparasites (external parasites), living by hematophagy on the blood of mammals, birds, and occasionally reptiles and amphibians. Ticks are important vectors of a number of diseases

Are you talking about the parasites that suck blood or tics which are involuntary facial movements or vocalizations? I will guess that you mean the bug. I hate them!! I know birds eat them, but birds have plenty of other stuff to eat---what is their purpose?? I don't know about allergies, but they can carry disease--Rocky Mt. Spotted Tick Fever, etc. My dogs have had them. Sometimes I get them myself going outside in the country.
