I have a four year old mixed breed who is very tempramental. I'm considering another getting another dog, but my mixed breed gets jealous of other dogs in the house. He almost bit my friend's puppy. What should I do? Any suggestions on how to make my dog less aggressive?

First of all males and males and females and females are hard to do. If your dog is a male try a female and vise versa. Intoduce on nutral ground and make sure both are on a leash. It is also like with humans, they need to have chemistry, if they don't it may not work. Also the older a dog gets the harder is usually is. Yours is 4 so I would think it may work and maybe a puppy that isn't to young. try a pup that is about 4 to 6 month old. Also when you get the pup see if it has been raised around other dogs during that time. Another thing, dogs have there own language. You dog may have just been giving a warning to your friend's puppy, ex. that is My bone or that is My food bowl. You need to watch them and see if it is something like that and that can be fixed without and issue. 2 feeding bowls, and feeding them seperate and picking up the bowls when done.

If he can not play nice with other dogs - this will probably not work. If he is a very dominating dog - even getting him a bigger dog will not work - because he will still dominate the dog because it is his home court. If you could bring the two dogs to a neutral area - like a dog park or any park - and get them to play together and get along then you might have a good chance of making this work.

If not, your current dog may want to take out his anger on you by regressing in bad behaviors like chewing your things or peeing on your stuff...

But if it goes well, your dog has a new friend to play with and they will be able to keep each other company when your at work/school. Hope it works out for you - 2 are better than one.

Have them both on leashes and bring the new dog to your dog. and if that doesnt work try walking them together one on one side and the other on the other side. You may not have a long time but doing this for a few mins could help. Some say it helps cuz they both kinda learn to work together to walk. Again keeping one on mone side and the other on the other side. If possible put your dog on a muzzle to prevent any accidents.

Introduce them very very slowly, dont make them stay together very long. then progressivly make the time longer. Make sure there are to ppl that can handle both of the dogs. Keep them on a leash, and it would probably be safe to keep them across the room from each other.

When it is your own puppy, do it very slowly and carefully. Let your dog know that this is his new buddy. Give them time together but with your supervision at all times.

just introduce them slowly but most of all if he's jealous make sure you have time with him to show him that you love him and care for him still. jealousy is a big part of it, my baby (dog) is just like that.
