Well im putting heads on my 5.0 mustang and the compression ratio is going to bumped up to 9.8. Im using MR. Gasket for the heads. Im stumped on if I should use ARP bolts or use my stock ones. Im thinking I should use the ARP because of the higher possiblity of blowing a head gasket with higher compression ratio. Am I correct is it a good idea to use ARP.

The torque spec. and sequence are the same. I see
no reason to buy ARP altho they are a good bolt.

9.8:1 comp ratio isn't anything to worry about. If you bought the ARP bolts it wouldn't help at all in your situation. Now, if you are thinking of using NOS in the future and changing the head gasket type, maybe it would be of interest. ARP bolts are just an upgrade from the OE, but if you are gonna use the same torque you are not really gaining much are you??

Save your money and leave the arp's for the rods and mains.

9.8 is not high compression, but ARP fasteners are by far better.
