What is a good babysitting rate for a second grade child?

$6 an hour. if your babysitting the kid for most of the day, cut the parent a break and call it an "all-day-sitting-fee" and just say all day sitting job is $30. especially if you like watching the kid. if the child is not well mannered, you should probably keep it to yourself (telling the parents they need to discipline their child more is usually a touchy subject), but theres definitely nothing wrong with saying your busy if you get asked to babysit the next time for the same child you found less than enjoyable to sit for. (i've sat for a couple kids that just wanted to make me upset, and did everything i asked them not to do, and did nothing i asked them to do. they were a pain, but i worked through it, and didnt babysit for them anymore.)
