i would buy a craps program for your computer, and maybe read a book. If you don't have the patience, then you ask the dealers and they'll be able to help you out. Basically, the best odds of winning are Pass Line with odds, Come Bets with odds, Placing the 6 and 8 bets.

the worst bets are the middle bets (hardways, 11, and 12, and 7 and craps), the field is a horrible bet (because it doesn't have 5). You may see people win on these bets, but they're pure longshots.

I might as well explain the rules a little bit....The first roll is a come out roll. If the come out roll is a 7 or 11, the pass line bets win. if the come out roll is a 2,3, or 12, then the the pass line bets lose. Any other number and then the "point" is established. Now once the point is established, you need to roll that number again to win. if you roll a 7 before repeating that number, then you lose. On your 'odds' bets, you are paid exactly what the odds compared to 7. for example, let's say 4 is the point. If you have pass line with odds bets, and you make your point, then you get 2-1 on your 'odds' bets. Your pass line bet only gets 1-1. I'd type more but i'm tired...read a book and do that program....good luck.

Here is a link to the rules for craps, as well as a basic strategy for playing.

If you'd like to practice, some online casinos allow you to play in practice mode rather than for real money. I recommend Casino Grand Bay. http://www.referspot.com/showadtext.asp?g=0&b=1456&w=1649&s=b

If Casino Grand Bay is not to your liking, you can search hundreds of sites at GaminGoogle. http://robertmedl.com/gamingoogle.php

Best of luck!

the best way to play craps as a beginner is to forget about the pass line or field and just make place bets on the numbers.

All you do is bet directly on the 6 numbers at the top of the layout. Everytime that number hits you get paid, and you keep getting paid until a 7 rolls.

I have been to Vegas .. just cut to the chase and save yourself time and grief. When you get to your hotel just walk into the middle of the lobby and take all your money and throw it up in the air and let whoever gets it get it. That part of the Vegas experience being taken care of you are now free to take in a show.
