What day do your kids starts school and what state are you in?
Mine start tomorrow (August 30) but I know it's different in different states because of the weather and hot temperatures. Just curious.

I think it should develop a good base for all the skills, experiences and curveballs that everyone has to deal with as they go through their late teens, twenties and beyond. As far as the actual education, high school should teach kids how to think independently, formulate thoughtful arguments and come up with solutions to problems. You WILL forget 95% of what you are taught in class. I think high school also provides strong social skills needed for being successful. Learning how to ask teachers questions, scam a few more marks on a test and get extensions will be more valuable than knowing the root of Pi. Mingling successfully between the jocks, stoners and brains is also very important, as you never know who could be interviewing you for a job in 10 years.
The classes are all filler.

well, i just graduated HS, and i'm not going to college for another year [taking a year off for the military... just waiting for my dates to leave!!] but a lot of my friends are still in HS.... they just started today... [northeastern ohio.]
