It's referred to as the Great Commission. Jesus commanded us to do so. Here it is:
Matthew 28:19 - 20
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Because they were told to do so. That's what ended up pushing me out of 'main-stream' Christianity myself. Some will not allow you to have any other opinion & respect for the boundaries of your fellow man are often-times ignored. I think that they begin to push when they should back off and allow people to think and ponder what they've said.
Note: Not all Christians fall into this category just as no other generalization is true.
I am not stating that I am, or am not Christian at this point for the very same reason. No matter what I believe on a personal level, it is not my place to push my beliefs onto another. I would more than happily *share* my beliefs with anyone who is interested and who can have a reasonable conversation with me that is based on mutual respect and compassion.
I just wish that all 'God's creatures' could truly learn to Love and to express that with understanding. We are all people who must make our own way in this world. Each of us seekers and each of us both students and teachers. Let's try to help each other instead of bickering.

Hi, thanks for your question.
It is not that they are unsure. Here's why:
1. Jesus commanded us to preach the Gospel to all people. This is part of why He left us here.
2. He said all must trust in Him or they will miss out on Heaven - so it's very important to trust in Him, while there is time.
3. It is the loving thing to try and convince as many as possible to trust in Jesus - otherwise, those who do not will perish; they will spend eternity in Hell, away from the presence of the Lord, in eternal torment.

You could similarly use your same reason for why non-Christians spend so much time trying to convince people not to believe in Jesus.

Christians try to convince other people not for their own insecurities, but to save people and show them the truth. Regardless of whether you except it or not. Christians don't make believers, God does.

This does not apply to all Christians, nor is it exculsively by Christians. People with strong beliefs are often self-righteous and try to force other people to see from their viewpoint despite the fact that most people resist more when being cajoled.

It is required that Christians try to convert/save as many people as possible. Christ will not return to earth until every ear has heard his message. This is done out of love, nothing else.

ok, in the initiating, we are not attempting to disprove God. Why ought to we? you're the guy who's making the declare, the load of evidence is on YOU adult men. we do not spend any of our time attempting to disprove something. And maximum of the time, we do not "bash God". How ought to we bash something that we do not matter on? We ought to bash the idea of God, and ridicule the concept as such, yet you'll in no way discover an atheist who actively hates God Himself (not a actual atheist besides, because back, a actual atheist would not matter on God in the first position).

i love to study religion, but it is a puzzling subject. Though not really religious my self, the simplest answer is because the Bible tells them so.
People need faith, people need something to believe in. When something happens, like famine, people need answers, people need to know what caused it. So when something happens out of the ordinary, they pin it on a god.
the people who spread religion are usually not arrogant or conceited. They just want to spread the word.
I believe in god, but i do not like when people force their religion on others. If a person truly wants to believe in god, then they surely will have the time to study the bible and dedicate their lives to god.

Christians attempt to spread the message because they were told to do so. Both in the first chapter of Acts and Matthew 28, to name the most specific examples of the imperative.
It has nothing to do with insecurity.
Any questions?
