We have a 2 yr old cocker spaniel who has recently started relieving herself on our bed (thank goodness we have a waterproof mattress pad on it). She doesn't do it all the time just every now and then. Does anyone know what may be causing this?

Take her to the vet. She may have a UTI or something.

I had the same problem with my 2yr old cocker spaniel..it was usually because he got very excited easily, didnt make much fuss when he needs the toilet, wouldnt go outside without company.
Taking her to the vets is the most advised option..or you can always retrain her which we have done both and have found out he has IBS which doesnt really affect him releiving himself inside the house so we are now retraining him which is now..slowly working...

Could be a lot of things, ownership issues.....the bed is hers (especially if u have a new pet, baby, or lover) or an illness, she's showing you she has a problem-have her checked out by a vet, or maybe she just needs to go out more often.

just very bad behavior, if you catch her in the act reprimand her and put her outside. keep your door shut when you are not in there. certain "odors" on the bedding may not wash out in the normal wash and it may be taking cues from odors on the bed that its an ok place to go.

She could be acting out and trying to get your attention. Is she fixed...that can help sometimes. Take her to the vet.

Take her to the vet. Don't let her on your bed.
