I`ve taken her to her Vet, but the pills did not help, does anyone have any ideas to what else we can do to or buy for the rash, also I forgot to ask the vet where can we get that cone, that will prevent her from licking the cremes or salves off ? All answers are appreciated for any ideas that might help my 6 yr, old sweet baby Dot. Thanks.

1) take her to another vet if your vet can't figure it out.

2) you can usually get the anti-chew cone/collars from your vet, but it makes life generally unhappy for the animals & should be used for really serious things. You can probably get some sort of herbal 'bad taste if chewed' product that can be sprayed lightly over any salve or creams, but clear it with the vet first.

3) shave her, sometimes that helps 'hot spots' that usuallly happen in warmer weather that are worsened by dogs chewing on them.

4) Wash her regularly in case it's a flea issue.

5) It could be allergies to something, like flea meds, shampoo, food, some bushes she might regularly tramp through.

6) You might need a combo of medicines, steroids & allergy meds, that sort of thing, and it might be an ongoing treatment, not a one or two shot treatment.

7) What did your vet actually diagnose Dottie with, if anything? It's actually a bit hard to answer more fully without that sort of info. Again, if your doctor doesn't know what to try after one 30 day treatment of some sort, you need a new vet.

Foster & Smith is a good catalog source for the cones, or you can make your own out of any semi-rigid plastic. Duct tape to hold it together or you can punch holes and lace it together.
There is a spray you can get (I get it at the local Co-Op) called Happy Jack (brand) spray for itching and allergies. It is an herbal stuff that eases the itching and will at least help her feel better. It will also clear up some kinds of fungus and allergy related rashes.
To begin with I would give her a bath with warm water and baking soda. NO SOAP! This will ease the itching as well as remove traces of any chemicals, soaps etc. The make a thin oatmeal and plaster it everywhere the rash is. Let it stay on for about 10 minutes then rinse with plain warm water.
If nothing else, these things wiill make her feel better and stop the itching.
Have you changed her food prior to the rash? What about bathing? Laundry soap on bedding? or even you bedding id she sleeps on your bed. Any kind of sprays around the house or yard?
Let me know if you want me to go thru a list with you.

You can get the cone from the vet.
Topical remedies are usually infective, the best is oral (pills)
The best thing to do as the vet has made the diagnosis and test results is to contact the vet. They will probably want to see the dog.
If the dog scratches licks or in any bothers the rash then a cone is indicated.

This seems to be an food allergy reaction that she's eaten .First give her some benadryl you can give her children's benadryl liquid 1\2 dropper, then change her diet try and put her on an diet like fish and potatoes dry, or rabbit and sweet potato dry.

Then go to any pet store Will have the cone to put around her neck to keep her from itching. As soon as you start her on benadryl liquid that will calm her itching down a great deal..

Both of my babies have gone Thur what your baby is going Thur now. Both of mine have foul food allergies.

Soon your baby will be back to her old self

Gosh, I didn't see this question yesterday but I have to say that if a Christian is known by his fruits then I don't see how Mr. Obama could possibly be a Christian. So the only thing I can figure is, he had to do something to quiet down all of his supporters who didn't like Rick Warren being a part of the inauguration. I think Rick Warren is just being used by him, too, but I hope he has the courage to pray in Jesus' name like Franklin Graham did (when Mr. Bush was sworn in the last time). He was awesome. God bless!

Pills? Are you nuts, why would you treat a topical problem with chems? Listen hear, don't try no baby stuff or whatever, your dot could be sensitive to human stuff, parfumes especially!! Baking soda warm tub , cools skin gets red irritated skin to a moisturized level, then apply some natural aloe vera gel , or somethin in a gel form that will dry before she or he starts to lick away, but as far as that thing around the neck, just use an old lamp shade,i personally wouldn't i use this stuff from petco or petsmart that is a self sticking bandage. You wrap around firmly and it adheres to itself. My dog has had skin problems, your best is to stick to the "natural remedies"for your dog .Make sure their not insect bites, especially ants, just use your instincts about those products out there. And stay clear from whatever the hell those pills were! That doesn't sound right to me?!!!Good luck

You might want to try "Vitamin E." It is a natural healer and it also helps if there is any itchiness. You break open the "Vitamin E" capsules and apply it directly onto the rash. It won't hurt her even if she licks it. It would actually be good for her. You may also want to add "Vitamin A" and follow the same procedure as the "Vitamin E." The "Vitamin A" is also good for her. On a more personal note...I know how precious your dog can be. My beagle, "Gizmo" past away a few years ago. He was my best friend and I miss him everyday. Sure hope that she feels better soon!

Try changing her diet, it maybe an allergic reaction. Bathe her in moisturizing baby shampoo, preferably with aloe (no tears formula) and follow with a little of gold bond medicated moisturizing lotion or avveeno lotion, she'll smell good, be super soft, and it'll soak into the skin so she won't be able to lick it off. Good luck
