If, for example, you're Christian and you see a picture of Christ: the face in the picture looking exactly like the real Jesus is a little beside the point. Or is it?
The spiritul connection, I would think has to do more with forgiveness than anything else. Or is it all about a man? Someone who lived in Isreal? Someone who lived between certain dates in history?
What I'm really asking is where details end and the SPIRIT of the story begins. Is it really important what kind of fruit was in the Garden of Eden? Or, for that matter, even if the story is literal?
ISN'T THE WHOLE THING MORE ABOUT A MESSAGE WITH A MEANING THAN who's right, and who wins the contest for knowing everything there is to know? Does God judge us by who guesses riddles the best? Or is it more about the heart - more about the spirt of the person?

By their fruit you will know them.
Do they Love or Fear? Do they encourage Love or Fear in others?
Everything we do inevitably boils down to a choice between Love or Fear. We act upon whichever of these choices holds sway over our minds and hearts.
If we're afraid to Love, we seek comfort in legalistic assumptions, shallow adherence to form without the substance, lip service, hypocrisy.
If we Love, we need no other comfort. Who needs a label when we Love whole-heartedly? Who needs to impress others? Our Love sustains all our efforts.

Believing in God has nothing to do with symbols or a spiritual connection. The church is only there to make you believe that you have to do so many different things to hopefully go to "heaven". The churches and the bible are all a crock of s@#%
Don't believe in what people say or do. Until you've seen then you can believe. Look up world history in the early 1500's you'll understand and hopefully you'll read what happened to some people who took their own beliefs in their own hands and actually proved the churches wrong. Look at Gallileo. It took the churches, since 1500 something to 1991, to actuqally get down and off of their high horses and believe that YES the earth revolves around the sun and not the other way around. the churches are rounding up all the gullible people to believe that "they will be saved"
I'm laughing right now because this is too funny. i hope you are not following that the church is right. There can always be a scientifical explanation for everything.

the spiritual connection is the important part, symbols and pictures just serve to conjure up visually events, such as Christ on the cross reminds us of his ultimate sacrifice for us but then we recount the events prior to and after the crucifixion, a picture of Jesus is a visual aid to remind us he is always there etc. but again the spiritual connection is the important constant we all must cherish and keep.

Well said. For me, Christian faith can be very simple. Jesus taught us that the most important thing is to love the Lord God with all your heart and to love everyone as you love yourself. That's not symbolism - it's plain english.

You at the the words of God. - The Ten Commandments and see if you have broken any of them. If you have tolled a lie then you are going to Hell. You need to seek a God's forgiveness and seek a Savor
