What you are talking about is the trinity. Alot of christian denominations believe the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit are all the same being. I dont believe that way even though I was raised to. Like you, I find that it doesnt make sense to me. I think it started when they did away with gods like zeus, appollo and so on. When it was decided that there was only one true god and only one god well Jesus came along and through a kink in the plan. What do we do now? Remember only one true God. Well thats when they put there heads together and came up with the trinity. Or something like that.
What is with some of you people being so defensive towards her just because she doesnt believe in the trinity. Alot of you have said its hard to understand but to just go with it. Well maybe its hard to understand because it could be wrong. Maybe it isnt. Nobody really knows and nobody will until that day comes. I believe the way I do because I feel right about it and I'm sure she does to. I dont believe just because the preacher says its so then its got to be right. I like to make up my own mind and maybe she does to.

you know what tee... I feel ya; and I can't even begin to see where they get that from especially when Jesus always referred to His Father which was in Heaven (when He was Here on earth with us) I tried to get to the bottom of that myself in some o' my questions, and you should see how they went off on me for even asking. What's worse, are the people who sit up in church every sunday, and still don't see it.
I feel bad for those people: For no where in the bible can they find anywhere where Jesus has said He was God. Nor can they explain who that was that had HIS feet washed by Abraham in Gen. 18... or Whom the Psalm 68:4 is referring to. The deadly thing about that though, is the fact that they actually ignore H.I.M. that sits on the throne of Heaven (with Jesus at HIS right hand), and even Jesus has said that "with the exception of blasphemy (sins against the Father) all manner of sin is forgiveable"
And I would have to think; that to say HE is not WHO HE is; would be coming deadly close. But I am glad to see that I am not the only one who has noticed that.
btw... if God and Jesus were the same individual; wouldn't that mean that for the three days Jesus was dead we wouldn't have had a God?
God can't die. Don't know why they can't see that.
Be blessed my sista: May the Most High God, continue to enlighten and strengthen you. Selah In the blessed Name of the LORD God JAH Almighty; God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And in the name of our Lord Saviour Jesus the Christ: May your Home be blessed and be a beacon of light to those who come your away. Amen

The First Ecumenical Council (Nicea 325) already resolved this. Divinity is properly a matter of nature. "Personhood" is distinct from "Nature". That is why Jesus and God the Father can be two distinct persons (Gr. Hypostasis) although they share the one divine Nature (Gr. Ousia). And if Jesus never claimed to be God then what does He mean when He says, "Before Moses was, I AM." The Jews who were hearing Him obviously thought He was making Himself out to be God by their reaction to His words.
If you truly want to understand *how* people explain this in easier to understand language, why don't you do some research on Trinitarian dogma, Arianism (an early heresy that tried to make Jesus inferior to the Father), and the language of Greek philosophy like "hypostasis", "ousia", "prosopon", etc. that was used by the early Church to explain these concepts?

to Isis-Sama, if Jesus were a prophet and then claimed to be Son of God, wouldn't that make him a liar and not a very good prophet? Maybe He is exactly what He says He is.... Honestly, this is a point of confusion for all non-believers. You will not have true understanding or peace on the issue until you allow the Holy Spirit to set up residence in your heart. Have you trusted Jesus as your Lord and Savior? Would you like to? Email me for answers at jhvnmt at yahoo dot com.

If you open your bible and read John chapter 1, you will see this: "In the beginning was the word, the word was with God and the word WAS God. The word became flesh (that's Jesus), and dwelt among us". That is why we believe Jesus is God.
There is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. When Jesus walked the earth, He was subordinate to the Father in Heaven.
I hope this clears up your confusion?

You are Correct -
Jesus is God's Son.
And just to make the matter even clearer - God (the Father) has a name!! Psalm 83:18 (for one) mentions that it is Jehovah.
Also the Bible says that Jesus was God's only "Begotten" Son - which means that he was directly created from God. And that Jesus was the Master Worker - through Jesus, all other things were created. In other words, Jesus was God's assistant...that is why in Genesis - the dialogue was such that Jehovah God said, "Let US create man in our own image". Obviously, he was talking to his Son. Jesus, then, had a pre-human existence!
History backs up Jesus' existence:
Tacitus, a Roman historian who lived during the latter part of the first century C.E., wrote: “Christus [Latin for “Christ”], from whom the name [Christian] had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus.”—The Complete Works of Tacitus (New York, 1942), “The Annals,” Book 15, par. 44.
Jesus said: “This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.” (John 17:3; )

Catholic doctrine states that god is made up of the Father the son and the holy spirit the Divine Trinity. Jesus prayed to his father in heaven. not to God. That could be how.

First of all TEE let me say this, I feel that your statement about people being ignorant for believing that Jesus and God are the same, is inappropriate. First of all, if a Christian got on here saying anyone who does not believe in Jesus as the Savior is ignorant, your next statement would have been like so many others who claim Christians to be so mean and judgemental. Its kind of funny when a Christian stresses their views people are quick to say that we are judgemental and mean, but when people like you post idiotic statements such as this, everyone cheers it on and thinks its cute. I finally come to the conclusion that the reason why so many Christians are angry is because we are tired of having to compromise our beliefs to make non believers feel comfortable when non believers are encouraged to do and say as they please. It was a time in history when Christians were persecuted for their beliefs and not allowed to claim Christianity in public or they were put to death. I feel we are slowly entering into that realm of life again. Check it. Its against the law to pray in schools, its against the law for us to talk about religion at work, etc. And its all designed to make non believers feel comfortable. But, where is the same respect for Christians? Now to answer the question at hand, God is the Father above us, Christ Jesus was God dwelling among us, and after He died He sent God the Holy Spirit to dwell in us to comfort us in our time of despair, and convict us when our flesh is tempted to do wrong. I think the problem is most people only want to Believe in things they can test with the senses: taste, see, feel, etc. But thats why its called faith, the subtance of things hoped for and the evidence in things not seen. We may not have seen or be able to understand everything the Word of God says, but based on the things the Bible has promised that we have seen, we have faith that all else is true too. For future thought, if you dont want Christians bashing you the way some of you accuse us of doing, please watch what you say about us, because when you realize that there is only one true and living God you may have to go back and apologize to many people.

Ignorance is a lack of knowledge or understanding. There is no lack of knowledge in believing that Jesus and God the Father are both part of the Triune God, but there is a lack of understanding. We do not understand how that can be possible. It is beyond our understanding, so we take it on faith.
Now, your question says that those who do believe that God and Jesus are the same being are ignorant. I disagree. I believe what the Bible says. I do not understand fully how that can be, so in that sense I am ignorant as to how that can be, but I am not ignorant to the fact that it is true.
These questions come down to faith.

Beats me . . . I guess people want to believe that God knows everything and is good and in the Bible God says that he is the only God so if Jesus was not him, even a different god, then God would be lying . . . I personally do not think Jesus is God, God's avatar, the son of God, or a god . . . he may have been a prophet, though.
