I did it, I lost 50 pounds in 3 or 4 months, but that's because I was ill and basically didn't eat anything. It's not healthy to lose weight that fast. Plus, when you lose weight fast, you tend to gain it back fast as well. Let your body adjust to your new diet and exercise routine. Changing your routine is key in weight loss though. To lose weight you need to start eating 6 SMALL meals a day, and start to train your body and regulate your body. Train your body to eat less more frequently, and your metabolism will speed up and you will start shedding the pounds. It will be slow at first, but after 2 or 3 weeks you will start to rapidly lose weight. Just stick with it!

I think it's possible to lose 20 lbs. safely in two months. The main thing is finding a diet you can stick with, and adding exercise to your daily routine. Cutting calories, adding exercise - that's the main thing. Drink lots of water, and eat lots of fiber.
I don't think it matters (unless you have a health problem, for which you'd want to check with your doctor) whether you choose low-fat, low-carb, low-whatever... they all cut calories. But make sure it's healthy, and make sure you are reasonable with yourself. A diet that is too low in fat can harm you physically, as can a diet that is too low in carbohydrates. Do some research, and talk to someone who is a nutritionist or a doctor.
Losing it quick is one thing. Maintaining it is another. The only way you'll be able to maintain it, is if you lose it *reasonably,* by finding an eating plan you can do for the long-term.
I wish there was a quick fix, a pill, a magic food... but so far I haven't found it!
Good luck!

Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic index and load. It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way we have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.
Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad carbs and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Links page has gov. BMI calculater to find out just how much overweight you are (teens plug in your age to compare to others your age). Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

Top weight loss tips
Today there is too much information available on losing weight that has become more confusing and sometimes difficult to follow. It’s actually very easy to lose weight if you follow my weight loss tips.
* Be in right frame of mind
Before you can start any diet program you need to be in the right frame of mind. If you do not feel good about yourself you probably will not want to choose healthy foods. You cannot expect the act of going on a diet to make you feel better about yourself. The only way you can choose to eat a healthy diet to lose weight is if you have a positive self-image.
* Eat whole food
Top weight loss tips
Eat whole foods that are as natural as possible. When you eat whole foods that are full of nutrients your body will know how much to eat and how much not to eat. You do not have to count calories because your body is a wonderful machine.
* Eat fresh fruit
Eat at least two servings of fresh fruit every day. Choose whatever type of fruit is in season.
* Drink enough water
Drink the best weight loss supplement known to man, water. Most people do not know the difference from being hungry for food or thirsty for water. A great deal of times people eat when they should drink. Most likely you will not feel as hungry if you are getting enough water. You will be satisfying the thirst, which is confused for hunger. Water also helps you digest food better. Drinking water before you eat will help fill you up.
* Always chew your food
Always chew your food well. Chewing your food well will ensure that you get the most nutrients out of your food. Getting the most nutrients will satisfy your body therefore you will eat less. Another benefit of chewing well is that it helps aid in digestion.
* Take small meals
Eat small, frequent meals in a day. Large meals tax your digestion system, making it work harder. Taking too much time in between meals makes you hungrier for the next meal.
* Include protein at meal
Include good sources of protein at meal, chicken, fish, legumes, peanut, cottage cheese, eggs or yogurt.
* Shut off TV while eating
Shut off the TV whenever you eat – that includes meals and snacks. Studies show that we automatically eat larger portions when we snack in front of the tube, and typically those foods are high in fat and sugar, which means excess calories!
* Increase your physical activity
Increase your physical activity. Most people are over weight because of a lack of physical activity. Start walking more, bicycling, walks your dog for longer periods of time, swim, dance and leave the car at home when you can. It’s important that you choose a physical activity that you enjoy because you’ll stick with it.

Same discussion I had with my Dr...... 1200 cal/day, within 30 mins of getting up, eat breakfast. 3 hours later, have a small snack with at least 2 grams of protein, (shakes work well)... 3 hours after that, eat lunch.... 3 hours after that, another small snack with the 2 grams of protein... and 3 hours after that, if you're hungry, eat dinner. It sounds like more of a pain than it really is, and it works!!! Not only that, but it 'programs' your body to use its fuel more efficiently!
