I am only willing to sign a petition for something or someone I personally support. That's the whole point of a petition, to show support, so why would you want to help support someone else's cause in one way only to go against it in another?

I have signed many petitions to get issues on the State ballot, also issues on local ballots. I would never sign a petition to get a person on the ballot that I would not vote for. That's a protest vote and a wasted vote. Like it or not we have a two party system, I don't like it.
Ralph Nader is very smart and would serve this country well in the White House but only as a Cabinate level person. Elections are about Money and power, no longer issues, I take the lessor of two known evils, I don't really like either choice. If you don't win your issues and ideas die a quick death. Democrats can and will win, now if we can just keep the Republicans from cheating again and we count all the votes we will be done with them.

For a candidate I did not support, no. I have signed petitions to get an issue on the ballot with the intent to vote against the issue.

No. I don't think that I could sign a petition for someone or something that I did not truly believe in. I do respect your opinion for wanting to give someone a chance. Normally I would say yes, I'm all for giving people the chances that they deserve.

No... why would I support someone that I don't agree with. He may have every right to try, but I don't need to help. The very idea is stupid. It's like ".. I'm Adolf Hitler... sign my petition to run for.." Yea Right!

i guess it would really depend on what they stand for. if they stood for policies i felt would really harm people i probably wouldn't support their efforts to run.

I probably wouldn't, since there's been too much abuse -- really rich people hiring people to collect signatures for them. Not truly democratic, in my view.
