Let me make this clear, I do not have Ana or any EDs.
Is it possible that I may have a mental problem? I feel fat, when I take a picture of my body it looks fat, I feel huge, etc. But my mom tells me that I have a zero waist line and I have a flat stomach. I do not see it... honestly, I thought that I gained weight, but she said that I lost more than 15 lbs this summer. We went shopping the other day... I can fit in XS and S clothing, M are now too big for me. I still do not see it. Is it possible that my brain is playing tricks on me? Why can't I see what everyone else sees?

Yes, Body Dysmorphic Disorder is a possibility. Please see the website below for more information. People with this disorder have a distorted perception of their appearance. So what they see in the mirror, is not what other people see. They become preoccupied with how they look and may spend excessive amounts of time looking in the mirror, they may withdraw from social situations and can become quite depressed.
However, as the above poster has mentioned, there is the possibility that this could escalate into Anorexia or Bulemia, because suffers of BDD often resort to extreme behaviours and drastic actions to try to deal with their perceived appearance issues.
I'd also suggest going to see your doctor, who can refer you to a specialist for an assessment and recommend the right course of treatment for you, which may include medication and therapy.
Take care : )

No, you do not have anoxeria and you don't have a mental problem either. Its called body dysmorphia. I have it also. Lots of women think I look good and have a nice body and I've overheard that I'm quite muscular, but me being a guy I think I'm still too skinny. Although I do see some muscle tone, I don't believe my body is all that. Its the same thing you have, but in reverse. Even though I am aware my brain is playing tricks with me, my thoughts and feelings don't go away. I try to live with the thoughts but I know not to let it get me down since I can at least concentrate on the compliments. I'd suggest you try the same!

check out information about Body dysmorphic disorder and see if you have characteristics that match. I do find it to be a good sign that you are thinking that your brain may be playing tricks on you. A therapist may be of help.
