Yeast infections take many forms. They usually develop where a moist environment encourages fungal growth, especially on the between fingers and toes, nails, genitals and folds of skin. And yes men can get yeast infections. Types include:

Oral thrush--is a painless, often recurrent yeast infection of the mouth and throat. It is common in babies, young children and the elderly, but can affect all ages.
Moniliasis--is a painful vaginal yeast infection experienced by a majority of women at some point but most commonly during pregnancy or treatment with antibiotics.
Balanitis--is a less common but equally irritating infection of the penis.
Intertrigo-- can occur on the skin, particularly in large skin folds in obese people.
Systemic yeast infections--can occur in cases of diabetes, AIDS, and other ailments or drug treatments that suppress the immune system.

Candida albicans is a fungal organism (yeast) that thrives in your mouth, gastrointestinal tract, and skin; your body produces bacteria that keep it in check. When the fungal growth exceeds the body's ability to control it, a yeast infection develops.

Yeast infections are common in places on the body where the skin is often damp (diaper rash is a good example of this). Yeast infections can also be caused by stress or illness which weakens body's immune system.

Yeast and bacteria are normally both present in the vagina. If something kills off the bacteria...antibiotics, even stress...the yeast take over like gangbusters. It's easily cured, but perfectly miserable.

Most every woman has had experience with yeast infections; they are very common. Did you know that a woman's partner can re-infect her, if he is not scrupulously clean?

a yeast infection is a very common thing that a female gets, almost every female will experince one in her lifetime. it is bacteria that can be cause by anything even using bodywash, and it can be given to a male also , so if your female has one, you can also get it., it is not a disease , just an infection that can be cured with over the counter meds, although perscription gets rid of it much better

Its an overgrowth of yeast that is normally present. Taking antibiotics can make it happen, so can a lot of other things.
