I admit it's a theory and not a fact, Evolution. I have faith that it happened, based on the fossil record and genetics.

Your thoughts?

Here is a logical analogy of what you are saying.

What does it say about me that I have more faith in the theory of the evolution of New York City than the existence of a creator?

NYC did evolve over time, there is no doubt about that. How did it evolve? Did it evolve via nature, or was it a created evolution? This semantic analogy would imply that you do not believe a creator (man) was involved in the evolution of NYC.

In the same manner, life has evolved over time. The issue is, how did it happen? Was it via nature, or was a creator involved?

Please, stop looking at the genesis account and making a big deal about this poetic account of creation. If you do, then please also reconcile the fact the the catholic faith is fully behind the "scientific data" and the fossil record that shows the time-line and the species that developed over time. I'm not a Catholic, but, in the interests of honesty, a main world religion and many Protestant Christians agree with the scientific record. How and why do they do that, and yet use the bible?

You have a choice to stop polarizing and start using some of your mental energy to find a common ground. Here is a principle to pursue, the "Case against Atheism and Religionism".

Atheism as a philisophical dead end that is forced to conclude that life is meaningless, in the grand scheme of nature, and has led to terrible and deadly political systems. Religionism as politicized religion, which becomes dictatorial when man is in control of the belief system, resulting in inquisitions, terrorism, blind fundamentalism, etc., etc. Versus belief in a creator, which allows a first principle justification for a purposeful life, and a justification for a society of freedom and liberty to find your destiny. As Emerson said, "God enters by a private door to every individual". Thus faith, not religion is paramount.

LadyChristmas gave the right answer: their not mutually exclusive of each other.
For example, I believe in both the aforesaid theory and God.
As for you, your belief in evolution rather than God says that you have faith of the mind rather than faith of the heart, which is required for believing in God, but not evolution.
By the way, are you the illegitimate son of Charles Darwin, since you are asking this question and doubt the existence of God?

It is a theory, which means it's as close to fact as can be!

Theory: A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been repeatedly tested or is widely accepted and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena.

Theory and fact are different things. The theory status of Evolution doesn't have any bearing upon its truthfulness.

The theory is what EXPLAINS the evidence, and the EVIDENCE is undeniable....

It's not faith, if it's based on something (fossil records, genetics).
It's also not faith if it's quantifiable (more faith in...).

Faith means that you don't need proof. It means that you believe; even when faced with contradictory evidence.

Does it bother you that you feel this way? Do you believe in God? Most of the answerers indicated that they don't think you do believe in God. I think I'd have to know the answer to that question before I could give you my thoughts. My thoughts would be different depending on whether you did or did not believe in God.

Well, ya know, I've seen that evolution stuff.. and I've seen the God stuff.. and I have more faith in God, than I do in Charles..
And, when I get to heaven, I'll look wayyyy down on Charles and feel pity for him.

Few things in life are founded in fact. Theoretically, that's a chair holding ye up off the ground. But then again, can we really trust our eyes?
