Islam about 1/4 of the worlds population.
Actually Islam includes the history of Jesus Christ, but it does not accept that he was the son of God rather a prophet like Mohammed who was the prophet who brought the teachings of Islam about 1400 yrs ago. Buddhism has a greater following than Christianity however it is not based on belief in God so is not properly a religion. I myself am spiritual rather than religious. I believe God is much more than my puny little mind can even begin to comprehend. I have studied Islam, Hinduism, Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism and Taoism. For the most part religion has been a tool for uniting peoples.

Actually, Christianity ISN'T, whether you break it up or not. There are a much larger number of Muslims than Christians, and if you combine Buddhists, Taoists, Shintoists and the like, they outnumber Christians, too. Hinduists give Christians a run for the money.

I think you might find that various forms of Buddhism comprise the greatest number of adherents...

...but Buddhism isn't a "religion".
