I have the answer just for you. Yes; the Bible tells us to follow Leviticus 11; I do. Here are the texts =

** TEXTS THAT INVOLVE THE CLEAN AND UNCLEAN MEATS:

GEN.18:7-8; LEV.11; 20:25; DEUT.14; ISAIAH 66:17; EZEK.22:26; DAN.1:8; MATT.3:4; LUKE 24:41-43; ACTS 10:10-14; 1COR.3:16-17; 9:27; 2COR.6:17; AND REV.21:8.

----IF THE CLEAN AND UNCLEAN MEATS WEREN'T VALID FOR TODAY; THEN WHY OH WHY WOULD THE LORD PLEAD WITH FLESH NOT TO EAT UNCLEAN MEAT--(ISAIAH 66:15-17). NEXT IF WE LOOK AT JESUS(COL.2:6; 1PETER 2:21) & THE APOSTLES (EPH.2:20); THEY NEVER ATE ANY UNCLEAN THING; THAT WAS SIN; AN ABOMINATION TO THE LORD. ALSO NOTICE DEUT.14:4 "SHALT NOT EAT ANY ABOMINABLE THING" AND REV.21:8 "...THE ABOMINABLE SHALL HAVE THEIR PART IN THE LAKE WHICH BURNETH WITH FIRE AND BRIMSTONE: WHICH IS THE SECOND DEATH."

Leviticus 11 is part of the kosher dietary laws. When given to Moses, the people were told that eating these foods would make them unclean.

In Acts chapter 19, Peter is given a vision in which he says the unclean beasts lowered from the heavens in a sheet, and is told (3 times) to eat from them. When he refused saying that he has never eaten anything unclean, God says that he is not to call unclean what God has cleansed.

When Jesus dies on the cross, did he redeem pigs? No. He redeemed men. It is the Christians, not the pigs He made clean. Because of that, Christians are now clean, and eating something that was ritually unclean will not make the Christian unclean.

This goes alone with Jesus's words when He said, "It is not what goes into a man's belly that makes him unclean. It is what comes out of his heart." Food does not make you unclean.

However, if you look up the health values and dangers of animals listed as unclean, you will find that none of them are very health to eat. So while eating them no longer makes a Christian unclean, it might make him sick. So it is best to avoid them.

I have always followed Leviticus 11.
I am not sure if this has anything to do with it...but I am quite healthy, I have had no major health issues, and my diet consists of good, clean healthy food.
Not too many people follow it, well, maybe the Jews do to some degree, but it's been this way for me my whole life, and I have no desire to eat those kinds of unclean meats.

It is not a requirement under the new contract, Jesus Christ completed the old contract. Which required such things as Leviticus 11, It's not a requirement but everyone would be in better health if we did.

I do follow it, because I feel I should. But you don't have to if you don't feel like doing it. In the New Testament, in the council, they decide to abstain from fornication, from food that was offered to idols, from blood and to love The Lord above all things, if I remember well (if not, I'm sorry). People at that time which were not Jews were having problems with following that because of their culture. So it is not a real problem, don't worry :)

Acts 10:9-15 should answer your question. To add to this. I have a friend that doesn't eat the animals that the Levitical laws told not to. Part for health reasons, part his own convicitons. God knows his heart in why he is doing it.

Jesus said "It doesn't matter what goes in your mouth, just what comes out of it." It doesn't matter what we eat, just what we say.
