I don't care for the family much, but Charles Manson did nothing wrong. He never killed anybody. He's being crucified for others killings. He was born to a whore of a mother with no father and no name. He lived a hard, lonely life. He was institutionalized most of his life, and when he got out, he was suddenly exposed to all this "new" stuff. Free love, drugs, rebellion against the establishment. He didn't corrupt the kids, the kids corrupted him. He just wanted to be left alone, but these kids kept following him around and thought of him as Christ. They made up wild stories such as him breathing on a dead bird in the desert and bringing it back to life, which he adamantly denies. The people that actually did the murders got much lighter sentences and he was sentenced to death.California abolished the death sentence the year he was supposed to die, so he now has life in prison. He'll never get out because San Quentin makes tons of money off of him.

The original "Manson Family" really is no more. The hardcore Manson Family numbered about two dozen. Of the eight members who were convicted of the nine Tate/LaBianca/Hinman/Shea murders only one has ever been paroled. The other seven have been in prison for the last 36 years. They come up for parole regularly but so far all have been denied every time. Almost all the rest of the Family cut ties with Manson years ago and went on with their lives.

I was a teen when the killings happened, Charles at the time was a very hypnotic person and I can understand why the others followed him. It was scary but now he is just crazy but dangerous.
"Mr. and Mrs. America--you are wrong. I am not the King of the Jews nor am I a hippie cult leader. I am what you have made me and the mad dog devil killer fiend leper is a reflection of your society. . .Whatever the outcome of this madness that you call a fair trial or Christian justice, you can know this: In my mind's eye my thoughts light fires in your cities."

Charles Manson is a bad guy. He is still alive on the taxpayers' dollars - and that's a shame, proof that the capital punishment system is totally broken in California. The world would be a better place if he'd never been born.

Scary, evil people. What's really scary is that technically Charles Manson is eligible for parole. He'll get a parole hearing every couple of years for the rest of his life. I doubt he would ever be paroled, but the fact that it's even a technical possibility is sickening. So much for "life in prison."

i dont think we will find out what really went on there. the guy was good at manipulating people, how he got such violence out of them is beyond me. i dont think the ones that commited the murders really know for sure. ive seen interviews with a few of them and i know they were speaking the truth as they remember, but something just didnt add up. the thing i find odd is dennis wilson, the drummer for the beachboys, hung with them and his band recorded one of his songs. the all american band does charles manson. its just too strange.
