I grind my teeth, have TMJ, and I broke a very back ,right side tooth(from grinding). There is a hard knot that i can feel through my cheek. it hurts, but its not unbearable.

That definitely sounds like an abscessed tooth. It means that it has a problem that needs to be taken care of. Meanwhile, take some salt (quite a bit) and mix with warm to hot water. Try to keep the salt water on the "bump" at the gum line where the bad tooth is. The salt water will draw the infection to the surface of the gum so it will break and give some relief. This may take a couple of days. Rinse often to get it to draw. Do not swallow the salt water.
If you're anything like me, the salt water works, and then "oh well" the problem is gone and now I don't need the dentist. What can I say. Not only am I a coward, but their prices are off the deep end.

The knot you feel through your cheek is not a good sign. It could be an early warning of infection and swelling to come.
Sometimes when a piece of tooth breaks it leaves an opening for bacteria to get under the gumline and that is where abcess starts.
I suggest a call to a dentist you have already seen and tell them what is happening. An antibiotic may stop this before it needs a root canal.

Often, a sensitivity to hot liquids. If you take a swig of hot coffee and your tooth suddenly feels as though you'd jabbed an ice pick right through it into your jaw, yup, you've got an abcess. Get it taken care of ASAP - you need antibiotics to kill the infection and a dentist to open the tooth up. Untreated dental abcesses are not only horribly painful, but they can actually kill you. You don't want any big infection that close to your brain!

that tooth is very sensitive to cold and hot, some also have a throbbing pain around the gum line or directly inside the tooth area some hurt so bad that they cause you to have a headache.it hurts real bad when you eat because food gets caught in the part of the tooth that is broke and starts hurting you need to floss your teeth more.Talk to your dentist about grinding your teeth because that is bad it can cause your teeth to shift crooked.

Usually swelling, pain and tenderness. NOT a good thing. seek a dentist for an antibiotic. Usually the infection must be brought under control before they can extract or fill the tooth.
