I had two wisdom teeth removed yesterday morning and I'm still bleeding. When I had the oter 2 removed, I bled all day but it stopped after 14 hours. I have been bleeding now for 30 hours. I am following the dentists recommendations, with gauze and stuff, and it'slightened but not yet stopped. could something be seriously wrong...why can't i form a blood clot?

Call your dentist. I had two wisdom teeth taken out 5 days ago and mine stopped bleeding in an hour. As soon as I got home I took the gauze out because they were making me gag.

The swelling and pain are still pretty significant but hopefully that will get better in another couple of days. I talked to the dental surgeon today and the swelling peaks on day 4 or 5.

Call your dentist soon. You may have an underlying problem that is causing lack of clotting to occur.
Hang in there!

Your blood may simply clot less easily, everyone's different. If you've stopped bleeding quickly before or have a tough time stopping the flow of blood the patterns are likely to continue.

Or of course you may have had a lot of blood vessels and stuff in that area, it all depends on the physical makeup of the person.

But I have 4 teeth removed myself for a tooth that never came up. I remember I bleed for a good 6 hours and oozed for about another 6. It all depends on the situation and you may have thin blood or not as many clotting agents in your blood, it may be a result of a poor diet or exercise although there could also be hereditary history thourgh family.

Get you family doctor to order a BLEEDING TIME STUDY.

(Dentist can't do this)

You may have von Willebrand's Disease (vWD) in which your body doesn't make enough FACTOR VIII, one of the substances that has to be present in order for your blood to clot properly.
The bleeding time study may have to be done more than once. vWD has several subtypes and they don't all always show up immediately on the study. It used to be thought that vWD was very rare but it affects ONE PER CENT of the population.

Many women have undiagnosed vWD - they have heavy periods, lots of clots, and pain; further clues that you may have this problem include: heavy (or very little) bleeding from dental procedures -remember, most vWD is of the variable type - bleeding from brushing your teeth, frequent heavy nose bleeds, bleeding from paper cuts that won't stop but keeps oozing, and SEVERE bruising from what seem to be ordinary knocks. And hemorrhage after giving birth.

vWD should be ruled out before you look for any other causes.

IF you have vWD you can relax. The hematologist will type it and give you the appropriate treatment. (Some of the treatments work well for one type but badly for another type so you have to know which it is)

It should not be bleeding after 30 hours. Your dentist should check it - it may need a suture over the gum area. Don't worry - its doubtful that it would be bleeding enough to cause serious concern.

hi,actually the most important thing after teeth removing is putting a piece of cotton to stop the bleeding for about 3 hours,, after that u can have cold drinks or something like pouding or youghrt..then next day you should be alright,2nd: i think that removing both teeth in the same day is such a hard thing,u shouldn't have done that.... anyway,, get well soon :-)

slowing down the rate of loss is a great sign - hang in there a bit longer. is is both or just the one still leaking? If both they may clot up at the same time, if just one give a call to Doc and tell him what's going on.

If you consumed any alcohol or aspirin or are on any other prescription medications they may increase bleeding time. If it hasn't stopped by the am call the dentist.

If you are that worried then call your dentist. It depends on how deep they had to cut in. Keep the gauze on it with some pressure.
