Congratulations on your success thus far! High School is an exciting time in life. Be yourself, relax, and do your best in your courses. Keep your grades up, enjoy extracurricular activities at your school in your field of interest (sports, music, debate team, etc.). You will meet many new people, and make new friends. Just stay open to the possibilities in front of you.
The answer to your second question is, "Yes, if you are asked by a junior or senior." I have not heard of a frosh or soph prom. There are usually other dances, as well, that you can attend. Sadie Hawkins is a "girl invite only" sort of thing. It's fun.

It depends on the school, but most schools don't let freshman go to the prom unless with an upperclassmate. You'll survive the first day of high school, it's honestly no big deal. In the past two years I've gone to two different high schools and I'm still alive. Just be yourself and be open to meeting new people.

first of all, grab the word processor and check your spelling!
In my school anyone could go to prom as long as they were invited by an upper classman.
My best advice for high school is no matter how good or bad it is it will end sooner or later. Don't hold onto it too hard, and don't be too upset if it doesn't go well, nothing will ever be like high school again in your entire life. Study hard and get good grades, trust me if you don't you will regret it.

i have to go through the same thing in a week. and i'm very nervous. i know a lot of upper classmen because of my brother and they all know me as " Colin's little sister." but that's not the name i wanna make for myself through high school, so i'm just gunna be myself and hang out with the ppl who like me for me. and i'm thinking ppl will like me because of that confidence, you should try the same thing and just be yourself.
