Try some peroxide. Wash your lip twice a day.
Do you have a store that sells a lip balm called Bert's Bees?
Or go to a health food store and look for a balm that has bees wax, some tee tree oil and maybe some cocoa butter.
Those 3 things will help most sores heal up fast.

It sounds like you're not being patient enough. I've been the same way myself. When I get hit by something like that, or a mouth sore, I want it to heal in a few days, but things don't always heal that fast. If you leave it alone and keep it moist and from getting dry, it will eventually heal. Drink plenty of water!

I have had this nasty problem for some time now (years), but after I started taking a B complex in addition to my vitamins and the problem went away in a matter of weeks and hasn't come back unless I stop taking the B's it will be there again after a couple of days, it would be a good idea to go to the doctor to see if he can cure it permanently, as I am in the process in but haven't got to a doctor yet as the VA hospital is very stingy with care. Hope this helps.

Going to the doctor is a good idea if its
been a long going problem.
Try drinking more water (like the
recommended 8 to 10 glasses a day)
for awhile and see if that improves the
dryness. I have found that helps me if
my lips get really dry. Sometimes it
seems that lip balms just makes it worse.

Go to the drug store and look where the chapsticks are. There should be a little glass white jar with a yellow lid. It's called Carmex. Use that instead of Chapstick. I heard using chapstick alot can actually dry out the lips and make them worse. The Carmex costs about $2

ALSO: get your metabolism up to speed up the healing faster.
Do some aerobic exercises every day.
