Take a look at it. By the measurements of the ark as taken from the bible, the thing was only 490ft. long, 80ft. wide, and 50ft. tall*.

Now take a look at the number of species that currently exist on the planet. Look at the variations within species. Take into acount insects, antrhopods, etc. Is there any possible way to fit all of them (2 of each) and a family (of what was it? 8 or so?) comfortably. Hell, you can't even do it uncomfortably.

So if only a handful** of species survived "the flood" Where did all of the others come from?***

*Measurements based on the Babylonian Cubit and rounded for ease of explanation.

**of what we see today.

*** I do not believe the biblical, or any other creation story to be factual. I'm simply positing a hypothetical to illustrate an inconsistancy.

RP Joe:
"This is the problem. Science clearly demonstrates there was a world wide flood."

No, actually it never has demonstrated anything even similar to a world wide flood event by any professionaly recognized scientist or researcher.

The entire American 7th fleet couldn't take all the animals, I doubt that wooded boat could.

I'm Christian but I don't believe everything humans put in the bible

Good question. I'm guessing the creationists are going to argue that speciation took place after the flood... so you only needed one species of turtle... or something stupid like that.
Honestly why these people have no trouble believing the animals were happily floating around in a big boat because an old book says so; but totally deny the very possibility of evolution when it's got a mountain of scientific backing; I'll never know.

Noah was told to take two of every "Kind." "Kind" doesn't mean "species." For example, Noah only had to bring two types of Cats on the ark; he didn't have to bring lions and tigers (and bears, oh my! :P) and kitty cats and bobcats and panthers.....you get the point. He only had to bring 2 members of the Cat family, and microevolution would take care of the rest. Plus, there have been many new variations that have come up since the Flood, which was about 6,000 years ago, if I remember correctly.

Now before you get distracted and say" OMG you said evolution happens!!!!!" microevolution, which is within species, does occur. For example, the fish that live in the way bottom of the ocean can't see too well, but that's because they don't need eyesight; their eyes have, over time, adjusted to the lack of light. But just because evolution occurs within a species doesn't prove interspecies evolution. Moving on.

So, if Noah only had to take 2 cats and 2 dogs and 2 giraffes and 2 camels and 2 bugs or whatever, I think you could fit them all in there. Because that ark had some serious square footage.

I believe the great flood did happen but not in a global scale. Probably this event took place only in one area, particulary in ancient region of mesopotamia where I believe this story originated. As you know, there are several version of the great deluge story out there and the one I know is came from the Epic of Gilgamesh, It has great similarity with the bible story, the only differences are the names of the character in the story but the premise is actually the same. You might wonder who told the story first...well, the archeologist claimed the Epic of Gilgamesh is the most ancient known literature. It is believed to be written around 5000 years ago. Beat that.

I have been given into that talk with a creationist as quickly as. specific, if all present day species got here from a handful on the ark, genetic exchange and organic decision had to have befell at a lots better value than any evolutionary biologist might evaluate attainable. Many creationists will insist that it befell in simple terms that way. whether, to a creationist, that speedy exchange is "version" and because they have self belief the exchange grow to be magically stopped on the line of a Biblical "variety" it is not evolution. To them, evolution isn't exchange in allele frequency over the years, it is one species magically starting to be to be yet another. So, whether they have self belief that evolution can ensue at an impossibly speedy value, they think of that what they have self belief isn't noted as evolution. i attempted for countless weeks as quickly as to get a creationist to comprehend that what he believed grow to be evolution yet he grow to be adamant that crossing the line of a "created variety" grow to be impossible and evolution ought to no longer be genuine.

I believe your preconcieved beliefs about the geological capacity of the floods mass was not stated as global as there is much places of earth and then to go even a different unexplained avenue you could assume that this orb has been visited by superior beings many many many times throught the existance of man and has been reported by nearly every culture around the globe sophisticated enough to make record of things that happen and then there is the time space theory which has Not been disproven, so why ask how and use ASSUME as your repour of idealisms?

Every animal was not taken into the ark. Contrary to what is taught, dinosaurs walked with man and existed with many of our current species. THEY were wiped out by the flood and other catastrophes, leaving room form adaptation, not evolution. Insects can survive in many ways, birds dont need a discussion, 2 of many primary animals were taken and through interbreeding and Gods hand animal life has been sustained.

Evolution says that we evolved from a rock. Hmmm... not seeing it.
Micro-evolution is a variation within species. Ok... I can definately see that.

Now, the bible says that there were 2 of each KIND. So, 2 dogs, 2 horses, 2 elephants, etc. It doesn't say that there were 2 of every animal. There were 2 of each kind of animal. So, yeah... you could fit them all on the ark.

All ancient cultures have a story of a great flood. Not everything died in the floods.

You can see evolution everyday. When your wounds heal, and when you can't get sick from the flu after you have a flu shot.
