Yes it's terrible. I wish I could stop sometimes but it came mostly from peers and really it's nasty. People who can refrain from cursing appear to be more educated and have more self control, which in turn makes them appear to be better parents etc. because their kids don't pick it up...they may hear it at school but if the parents don't use it they won't for the most part anyhow...they will know it's wrong and inappropriate to use around adults etc. Who knows what they do amongst friends and peers however.
Really, swearing is pretty nasty and uncouth, and if you can show some self-discipine and self-control it's better for you and those around you, otherwise all you do is throw out hate and cuss words which isn't good for anyone is it?

I was raised in a house were profanity was used a lot. My sisters first words were cock sucker! And as a child I could cuss some one for ever thing they were worth. My mom still cusses like a sailor. Now that I am grown I choose not to cuss. And in my house it is not used. I don't want to be a potty mouth. I have taught my daughter not to let filthy communication come out of her mouth.

You know, I curse like a sailor and I have no idea why. My parents cursed a little, but to this day I've only heard either one of them say the "f" word once or twice in my life. But I say it about every other word.
I do curse around my kids. Not towards them, but around them. They're 8 and 11 and they never do it and give me a hard time about it.
I still have a hard time cursing around my parents even though I'm almost 30. Just the small stuff- no F bombs! :)

Yes we use profanity in our home. My husband uses it more than me. He also talks like a trucker. He talks like that his kids, his parents and friends. My 17 year old step daughter swears around us but she knows when it's not appropriate.. It seems that the majority of the people in their lives talk like truckers so for us swear words are an everyday occurrence. But for the most part we know when it's ok and when we need to talk cleanly.

Our view is that profanity shows ignorance.
If you stub your toe in the middle of the night I'm sure a four letter word will probably be spoken, but thats about it.

Yes it is...I dont have children yet, but my husband and I use it, I use it all the time with my parents and they do with me too. I used it when I was younger and I heard it from mt parents the odd time as a kid, but mostly kids hear it from other kids. You will never stop children from using it. They always will. You can try and stop it in the household, but you'll never stop it on the streets.

def not. A 4 letter word once in a great while. Nothing regular. As head of the house i would never allow it. Not for any religious reasons it just sounds gross and uneducated.
