In Canada they incorporate the French version at official ceremonies and of course sporting events. I think we should do the same with Spanish here. Thoughts?

No I don't think so! Canada was founded by both French and English/Americans (I think) so there is a good argument why they do that! The USA has over the past 20 years seen an influx of immigrants into its country mainly from Mexico. This said should England who has a large % of residents from Pakistan and India also have their national anthem sang in different languages? Should Iraq soon have their national anthem sung in English? America is a English speaking country and this is not racist or prejudice! The country was founded on this language and it should not be changed because of immigrants! If people choose to move to a country to live and emigrate then they do so with the knowledge they must take on the culture and values that country express, not change them to suit their needs and wants!

Why do you think the national anthem should be changed? Because the country has a large % of Spanish speaking residents and it would be fair?

America is a country of opportunity and for the gift anyone who comes here should respect the traditions this country is founded on! I say this because I myself made the move from England to the US and I would never expect any one here to recognize any of the traditions or values my country holds dear! Don’t get me started on how this country destroys the English language!!

Singing the national anthem in Spanish is a serious insult to our country. Generations of Americans died to create and maintain the United States' freedoms and quality of life. The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson, not Paco Hernandez. The Gettysburg Address was delivered by Abraham Lincoln, not Juan Rodriguez.

Singing the national anthem in Spanish would be like wiping your *** with the Stars and Stripes.

That recording of the national anthem in Spanish that was a big deal a few weeks ago, sounds terrible, btw. Bad enough it's in Spanish, but it sounds like it's the version written by Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, and NSYNC.

I don't think so, its incorporated in two languages up in Canada because certain parts of Canada speak only French I do believe.... But it should NEVER be sung in Spanish here. We are an English speaking country, you wouldn't want God Save The Queen in Deutsch or French would you if you lived over in England.

The National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance should always be sung/said in English

Politics commonplace classic politics. He tries to redeem himself through affirming that the anthem could be sang in ordinary words in this is community language, yet clueless as he, he forgot all about his first inauguration.

No-- Canada has laws which state things have to be bi-lingual. In Quebec they have crazy language "police" that enforce french on many things. their country, they do what they want.

This is the US, the Anthem is IN English and should be sung in English. That's it. There are so many countries that have an official language. We don't unfortunately

I can't imagine Mexico or other spanish speaking countries would want their anthem sung in English.

btw-- I'm an immigrant and tri-lingual.

Can you imagine an American athlete winning a medal at the Olympics, and they play the Spanish verision of the American anthem? If that happens, other nations would totally lose respect for us and think we are a joke! Look, whoever came up with that idea just wanted some media attention, and it worked for him/her.

Maybe on the 5th of May if they want to but not at any functions I will attend they wont sing it in Spanish.
The only reason they do in Canada is because Quebec is nearly all French and they tried to secede from Canada but failed so they pacify the French in that province by singing "Oh Canada" in French too.and the rest of Canada doesn't like Quebec by the way....

French is the originating and national language in Canada. In The USA English is our language and has been ever since this country was founded. I believe it would be disgraceful to our founding fathers to sing it in anything but English.

No, it was set in place before immigrants came here. if they want it that much, it should be a law that all immigrants learn the national anthem before they are allowed citizenship. Our leaders have enough to worry about, learning the national anthem does'nt made you an american citizen.
