i have chronic allergies and i use hankerchiefs... i hate the waste tissues create... i love the environment and hankies can be thrown in the wash and reused later!!! I have tons of hankies, so i never have to worry about them being unsanitary!!! So why doesn't the rest of the world use hankies????

My husband and I use handkerchiefs. They're better for the environment. Kleenex is such a waste. The chemicals in the paper tissues are also bad and irritate the skin. People who blow their nose a lot using Kleenex are easily recognized by their red, sore nose.

A lot of people think it's more hygienic to use paper tissues, but I don't agree. Paper tissues get wet all the way through, leaving a filthy flora of bacteria on your hands, which few people seem to bother washing after every time they blow their nose, while handkerchiefs are thicker and usually don't get wet all the way through, so your hands stay clean. When handkerchiefs are used right they are more hygienic than paper tissues.

So thumbs up for handkerchiefs! :)

I don't because they have to be washed and ironed. I have also seen too many people use the handkerchief two or three times turning it to find a clean place while exposing the previous uses. Gross.

OMG I totally agree. Why don't people use fanny packs anymore either? I use hankerchiefs instead of tp sometimes as well. TP and Kleenex are wasteful and only litter bugs use them.

It's like diapers; the mess is easier dealt with by tossing it away. Plus, fossil fuels are burned to create the energy to wash and dry them anyway; it's six of one, half a dozen of the other.
And Kleenex is much more biodegradable than diapers.

Well, you're carrying around all those germs in your pocket or purse until you get home and put it in the laundry. I think I'd rather stick with tissues.

because it is kind of gross. Ecspecially if you're blowing big snot balls in it and sticking it in your pocket..yik
if you're just using it to wipe a runny nose, I don't think it would be that bad.

I would rather blow my nose in Kleenex and throw it in the garbage, then blow my nose on a handkerchief and stick it in my pocket. That is just me though.
