I don't consider myself anything but a true-blooded American. So why do people that drive pickup trucks keep telling me I hate this country because I don't see things their way?

America stands for more than big gas guzzling automobiles like SUVs and pickup trucks. America has a more varied artistic landscape that encompasses more musical styles than just country music. America has other sports, other than NASCAR, that require athletic exertion, and therefore are really SPORTS. To hate this trio of trucks, country music, and NASCAR is not to hate America, but to hate what is most backward about America.

Despising the mentality that retards our progress, and the symbols that represent that mentality, is not to hate America. Instead it is the most patriotic thing one can do. Of course you would never think it by asking Sean Hannity or Ann Coulter, who would rather elevate these three symbols to a sacred trinity; though I doubt that they, who come from privileged backgrounds, really care for any of that.

Its sort of ironic that the same people who drive pickup trucks, watch NASCAR religiously, and solely listen to country music are the ones that despise anyone who doesn’t care for these interests. They are also the ones who speak most vehemently against Islamic radicals. Yet what these dimwitted folks don’t realize is that they have more in common with Islamists than they care to admit.

Think about it. They despise most forms of music except their own. Muslim militants only enjoy music and art that extols the virtues of orthodox Islam, and consider all other forms of music against Islam. Conservatives believe it our duty as Americans to buy wasteful trucks and SUVs. Islamists profit off the American love affair of cars that utilize fuel inefficiently. Conservatives look at the NASCAR race track as a virtual altar that pays homage to masculinity. Jihadists see the automobile also as vehicle to express the highest of masculine pursuits, that of suicide bombing.

The Taliban and Al Queda have much in common with those who live in Redneck, USA.

I like pickup trucks and country music (mostly old country) and can't stand Nascar. I love rock and roll (mostly old stuff ) and country cooking. I was born in the north and live in the southwest. Where I found I liked tex-mex and hot days. I don't like snow. I like a gentle rain. You are an American and so am I.

People who say you hate your country are most likely saying this because you assume that if they like these things then they are stupid red-necks. Its all just back and forth.

We can all like different things and all love our country but if we don't quit insulting each other we will never hear each other and our country will continue to be divided.

I'm ok but not crazy about pick-up trucks, I like country music, and I have no use for NASCAR. I like guns, debate liberals, and yes, you are just as American as I am.

If you saw things the way EVERYBODY else thinks, you'd probably be a Chinese Communist or a poor North Korean. Keep it proud and say it loud, that's your right as an American.

why would you hate a pickup truck?

and country music, well maybe you just haven't got to know it well. please don't tell me you been listening to the crap on pop country radio, that's like calling Britney a musician.

here's what you do: you go get real drunk and listen to Hank Williams (SENIOR) or Merle Haggard, and tell me you hate country music.

Man, if you do that, you'll find the true love that God has for the world, tell you what.

NASCAR, I can take it or leave it.

You hate the Confederate States of America, not the United States of America.

Many of us are still sore over 1865.

You don't hate America. You have better taste than these people. Country music sucks, NASCAR is boring and pick-up trucks eat fuel. Bring on the hate mail *******

That's like saying that #24 Nascar fans aren't "real" fans and #8 fans are...ridiculous but amusing for some

Because they are single minded. You don't have to hate America because you hate don't things. There's more to America that those three things. America stands for so much more and that in turns mean you stand for much more.

You need to understand the core of conservative thinking. You need a father figure like a Jesus, leader,King,President, decider. The father figure must be strong, protective, and powerful. Now if anyone challenges the father figure with evidence first you must attack before investigating evidence and never admit guilt and protect the father figure for protection from the boogie men or terrorist.

You are just being yourself. It's not mean you hate one's country just because you hate those activities that can be related as a routine there.People have rights to express their thoughts and feelings. So do you.
