I'm sorry, but I think that's not going to happen in our lifetime. Religion will fail either when it stops being business, or when they find some better way to control us through. And I don't think there's a better mechanism than religions for that.

Especially that guy they just captured from Americas Top Ten Most Wanted list. I understand he is a leader in the Church of Latter Day Saints. Aren't they Mormons? It must be nice to have 70 wives. I could do without the 100 children.

That's why Martin Luther broke from the Catholic Church back in the 16th Century. Although some Prostestant denominations still hold close to the Catholic model, most Christians (whose churches adhere to the Bible) don't follow power-thirsty capitalists. I know that I don't!

I am a follower of Jesus, not of a religion.

Of course power thirsty capitalists dress up as ethically responsible people, religious or otherwise, to appear OK to us. All the better to rip us off. Jesus calls these "wolves in sheep's clothing".
Actually he's talking about false prophets but anyone who claims a message from God is a prophet; and a false one if it's not really from God.

I think this question reveals more about the person who posed it. And perhaps my answer reveals a little something about me, but with most true religions the people leading them are sincerely advocating a better way of life not just for the individual but for society in general. These ideals call for people to strive to be more open and loving to their fellow man (and woman). =^)

Words can be very powerful in turning people. Just read history and you see what i mean. Otherwise, Hitler, Bin Laden, and others wouldn't have that kind of following.
