To learn about the radicalization of Islam you may be interested to read the 58 page .pdf file written in 2004 and translated from Dutch. It gives some insight into the conceptual foundation of the AIVD's study of radical Islam.

Dawa (proselytizing) is an obligatory duty (fard) for Muslims. Muslims call it “inviting others to Islam.” Proselytizing for any faith, despite the negative connotations some attach to it, is not threatening. The freedom of faith guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, however, rests on the Judeo-Christian concept that all individuals have the right to choose and follow any faith, or none at all. But Islam essentially contradicts this Judeo-Christian principle. http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=8844
8 stages of radicalization
1. Efforts to create anti-democratic views on the state by non-violent means
2. Overt propagation of exclusivism and parallelism.
3. Covert propagation exclusivism and parallelism using hidden agendas under false pretenses.
4. Covert attempts to undermine structures of democratic legal order.
5. Covert pursuit of subversion of structures of democratic legal order.
6. Secret encouragement of serious tensions among groups in society.
7. Pursuit of exclusivism and parallelism via overt violent activities.
8. Efforts to create anti-democratic views on the state by violent means.
According to Christian ethics lying is a sin; In Islamic jurisprudence and theology, the use of taqiyya against the unbelievers is regarded as a virtue and a religious duty.
Very young Muslims grapple with the moral dilemma in which lying is permitted. "Taqiya" (or taqiyyah) [ التقية - 'fear, guard against ] is related to the terms "taqwa'" (piety, devotion) and "taqi'" - all have the root meaning of "guarding" something, such as the Islamic faith. "Taqiyyah" is from the root "waqaa" (to safeguard). It is based on Qur'an 3:28 and 16:106 as well as hadith, tafsir literature, and juridical commentaries.
The only lies which are not tolerated in Islam are:
----A lie against Allah.
----A lie against Muhammad.
----Lying to, or about, fellow Muslims
Quran Sura 6:93
Who can be more wicked than one who inventeth a lie against Allah, or saith, "I have received inspiration," when he hath received none, or (again) who saith, "I can reveal the like of what Allah hath revealed"? If thou couldst but see how the wicked (do fare) in the flood of confusion at death! - the angels stretch forth their hands, (saying), "Yield up your souls: this day shall ye receive your reward,- a penalty of shame, for that ye used to tell lies against Allah, and scornfully to reject of His signs!"
Narrated Al-Mughira: I heard the Prophet saying, "Ascribing false things to me is not like ascribing false things to anyone else. Whosoever tells a lie against me intentionally then surely let him occupy his seat in Hell-Fire." ... (Sahih al-Bukhari 2.378, cf. 1.106-108)
Cases in which lying IS permitted clearly include
to save one's life;
to effect a peace or reconciliation;
to persuade a woman;
on the occasion of a journey or expedition.
The Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (s) has also testified to the legitimacy of Taqiyyah is Halal until the Day of Judgement. Imam of Ahl ul Sunnah Hasan Basri states in Sahih Al-Bukhari, Egypt ed., vol. 9, pp. 24-25, Kitab al Ikra:
"?. And `Abd ibn Hamid has narrated from al-Hasan (al-Basri) that he said: `Taqiyah is lawful upto the day of resurrection. And `Abd (ibn Hamid) has narrated from Abu Raja' that he was reciting, `illa an tattaqu minhum taqiyatan'; and `Abd ibn Hamid has narrated from Qatadah that he was reciting (likewise) .... taqiyatan with ya"....And Hassan (Basri) said: `Taqiyah is upto the Day of Resurrection .... And the Prophet (s.a:w.) said: `Deed are according to intention
Taqiyah is used to prevent the new converts from seeing the real face of Islam; at least until their faith or mental conditioning is strong enough to make them turn against their own country and people.
Taqiyah is used to effect the strategic objective to destroy the foundations of the non-Muslim civilizations, as a prelude to the defeat of an isolated Israel, India, United States of America, Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Russia, Egypt, Afghanistan, etc.
Of course taqiyah is permitted if there is definite danger facing one's own life or the life of one's family, or the possibility of the loss of the honor and virtue of one's wife or of other female members of the family,or the danger of the loss of one's material belongings to such an extent as to cause complete destitution and prevent a man from being able to continue to support himself and his family.
"Taqiyah" (dissimulation) is the opposite of "nifaq" (hipocricy).
Nifaq - Belief against Islam in heart but declaration of Islam in words is "nifaq" (hipocricy).
Taqiyah - Correct belief of Islam by heart but declaration of anti‑Islamic belief in words is "taqiyah" (dissimulation).
"Kithman", (kitmam) is concealing religious beliefs from non-Muslims. This is part of 'striving in the way of Allah’ by debate.
"Kikmat" is the wisdom of lying.
Ibn Taymiyyah, who (of his own choosing) devised the following 2 conditions / (innovations) into the Islamic Sharia:
Taqiyyah can only be done in front of Kuffar (non-Muslims). While practising Taqiyyah, one cannot tell a "LIE". One can remain silent, but in no case tell a lie.
"Know that the long arguments for and against taqiyah are useless …. but there is no doubt in its validity and legality. Of course, common people do not like the term (taqiyah). Otherwise, the whole world uses it naturally, though some call it `tolerance', others name it as `diplomacy, and some call it `common sense'.
Muslims are sometimes accused of lying when they are presenting Islam in a manner that is acceptable to the listener. But this is a common educational strategy. It is not difficult to determine and understand that different people understand words differently. This causes them to misunderstand what a person is saying. This may lead to many futile arguments or to long discussions to clarify what is meant. The intelligent thing to do, therefore, is to learn about the culture of a people, their ideas and values and about how they use and understand language. Then to explain things accordingly rather than by a literal translation of the Quran.
"The intellectual - and thereby the rational - foundation of Islam results in the average Muslim having a curious tendency to believe that non-Muslims either know that Islam is the truth and reject it out of pure obstinacy, or else are simply ignorant of it and can be converted by elementary explanations; that anyone should be able to oppose Islam with a good conscience quite exceeds the Muslim's imagination, precisely because Islam coincides in his mind with the irresistible logic of things."

Interesting question, Christians say peace while holding a shotgun also! Be Christian or be ware!
No I would not convert to Muslim, Hindu,American Indian religions or Atheism.
I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses, we do not carry guns,we have a government that is not of this world as Jesus said.
We obey the rules of the land paying taxes, etc.
BUT, do not ask us to take up arms, When Jesus was in danger and Peter cut off the ear of a government slave, Jesus healed the slave and rebuked Peter.
We do not oppress, malign, fight in this worlds battles.
We do hope to teach the real PEACE of Jesus to the ignorant earth!
BUT Islam is no more oppressive than the Spanish inquisition, the dark AGES, WHEN THE Bible WAS REPRESSED.
Do not forget why the Pilgrims came here to America...RELIGIOUS FREEDOM... The State of Maryland in the U.S.A. is named for the first Wholly Catholic State, because of Protestant persecution. The Catholics under the HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE Killed and butchered millions of Muslims and Jews in the " HOLY CRUSADES"
So oppressive...PICK ONE!!! Christian, Christ killer Jew, Muslim.....
Get over it they all bite!

No, but i'd sure convert to Islam before christianity.
Christians have caused much more bloodshed than moslems:
1. Holocaust (our old christian friend hitler)
2. Inquisitions (Spanish and others)
3. Crusades (To Jeruslam!)
4. Salem (Wiiiiiiitch!)
5. Charles Taylor
6. And many many more!
Plus conflicts started by christians that didn't involve christianity too much.
1. Congolese civil war
2. WW1 & 2
3. Imperialist expansion all over the world
4. American genocide of indians
5. Spanish genocide of indians
6. Spanish civil war
7. American civil war
8. Iraq
9. Vietnam
10. Many more, the majority of wars.

Anyone who converts to Islam has not studied its history, has not studied how Islamic countries behave, has not studied how intolerant they are... In short, anyone who converts is doing so out of ignorance.
