No, i dont think you are a bad mother. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Frankly, i dont have a problem with the dolls. They are just different thats all. Thay are not sluts..they're dolls. They are not promiscuous...lets get a grip on reality. You as a parent have every right to determine what your child plays with and you are entitled to your reasoning on why.I just think we are going too far when we personify dolls into the things we detest in society. A Bratz doll will not make your daughter into a whore...Your teachings and her decisons will mold her, not her dolls. Would playing with a GI Joe make her into a lesbian? I think not. Continue playing an active role in your child's activities but lets not get carried away.

I don't think you're a bad mom at all! I will not be letting my daughter play with Bratz or any toys of that ilk.
I'm sorry, but there are very few modern toys that I feel comfortable letting my daughter play with. We just told her Grandma (who finishes most of her Christmas shopping by Easter) to let her mind wander back 50 years when buying presents for the baby.
It's a sad thing to go into a toy or clothing store these days. Most of what we see seems to be geared towards teaching the three and under crowd how to be harlots.
So Bratz will surely be a no go here on the homestead!

I think you are a great mother. A lot of the toys that are made now a days are sending out the wrong signals. They have on a lot of make up and slutty clothes. They are supposed to be intended for children to play with but they are designed for children. I think that these kinds of dolls give little girls the wrong image. I personally do not want my daughter growing up thinking that is what she is supposed to look like. The dolls come with all kinds of accessories like a party box, and a club scene, and stuff of that nature. Well my 8 year old daughter isn't going to clubs or parties like that so why should these dolls. What would be so wrong with Bratz at school or Bratz at the park r something of that nature. But anyway enough of my ranting. i think you are a great mom for wanting more for your children. Don't back down. its moms like you that make a world of difference and have kids that turn out to be great people. GOOD LUCK.

I think that other mother needs to mind her own beeeeznass.
They are totally not good "role" models. But then, a lot of parents said that about Barbie in my day. I never took the dolls seriously. Just depends on how old your kids are. But it's ridiculous to call you a bad mother for attempting to limit the negative messages your kid receives. Does that other mother also let her kids roam the internet unmonitored?
At least you know your daughter won't be on here at 14 asking "Overweight, 95lbs., how do I lose 25 lbs. in 5 days?"

No, i do no longer think of your incorrect for no longer allowing them to play with the Bratz dolls, who cares if it is the favored element to do, your infants won't grow to be social outcasts in the event that they do no longer paly with one doll. The dolls do costume too provocatively. infants learn by play, what are they getting to understand from human like dolls dressed like hookers. i've got not got any daughters yet once I did i would not enable them to play with the Bratz dolls. My boyfriend's little sister (final twelve months) grow to be obbessed with the Bratz dolls and needed some for her (10th) birthday, I pronounced no way and have been given her something else, now (she in simple terms grew to become 11) she's moved directly to obessing approximately Hannah Montana and (in simple terms beginning) to play with makeup at residing house so because it is a little greater useful. In a society that already encourages youthful women to enhance up so speedy, with television, and the steroids in our nutrition, why do they want dolls to velocity it up? enable them to be infants, it purely lasts some useful years.

Let me understand...another mother told you that you are BAD for refusing to cave in and give your child whatever she wants regardless of the toys message or symbolism or potential damage to your childs perception of her own self and your actually concerned about this? Dont bother. You are the parent of your own children and you have the right to decide what they can and can't play with and what sort of things you want them to be exposed too. If the other mom wants to have daughters that grow up to "act out" in bratty ways and dress in sexual attire wich leads to acting out in other ways then thats her business. Being a whore is a dirty job...but someones got to do it. Better her daughter than yours wouldnt you say?
Anyways, just think of all the little teenage girls who are hanging out at malls and turning tricks for middle aged old men so they can buy the latest designer jeans or shoes because they are addicted to material objects and having what they think makes them acceptable or popular in the eyes of their peirs. By refusing to cave in to your childrens demands for the latest doll craze and standing to your convictions even though so and so's mom lets her have them you are decreasing the chance that your daughter will one day end up looking like one of the bratz dolls and possibly even acting out in ways that any mother should find inapropriate and alarming.

YOU ARE A GREAT MOM,
My Grandson,8 years old, asked me one time about those dolls. He said, Why do they dress BAD?
Then his Father's sister 25 came around dressed like a whore and my Grandson looked at her 2 inch skirt, hanging out belly chub, and sort of shirt. He looked at his mom and whispered" Why is Auntie J.,. Dressed like a BRATZ DOLL????" Good Guys don't like it either, even if they are 6-8 years old! Auntie J..has been bothering him for some time.
One day I had him in Wal-Mart and a young mother was bent into her car buckling in an infant, Her skirt was so short we could all see her underwear, white with WONDER BREAD polka dots!
Both my grandsons were mortified and asked me why her undies were showing. J. was 6 and S.was4 years old.
YOU Are a great mom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keep fighting the tide of filth, it will pay back great dividends!

Well, ultimatly it's your choice, I personaly agree with you, and I was the targeted age group when they came out, and even then I agreed (I'm 14 now) YOU"RE they mother, not that other woman, I got a few given to me as presents etc. and I played with them, but I was just as good with old fashioned fully covered barby dolls!.
The world needs more like you really, who makes that kind oof thing for girls 4-13 years old!?

I wouldn't say you are a bad mother for not allowing your daughter to play with a toy that represents a lifestyle that is contrary to the way you want your daughter to be. You sound like you have some great wisdom and you are making some choices that are for your daughters best interest. You are only respondsible for your children and you sound like you are doing some respondsible parenting.

I think you're making a big mistake. Most dolls today are like that. My barbie dolls had clothing like that, and I turned out fine. Let your daughters play with them, they're just dolls, but if you're so concerned, then just let them know that those types of clothes are not the appropriate way to dress. You're not a bad mother, you're just looking out for them, but I personally think that you're being a tad bit ridiculous.
