Harry S. Truman created the U.S. Air Force under the National Scurity Act of 1947 effective 18 Sept 1947. The President signed the Act in July.

Before the United States Air Force became what it is, I believe back in 1948, it was actually the United States Army Air Force, so technically the Army could get the credit for it.

It was created by Harry S. Truman...it originated in the US Army as the Air Corps and you should steal your info from wikpedia on that.
