I, like all of you, was a child once (even if you don't remember it) and that is all it takes to have an opinion and valid perspective on parenting.
You might learn a lot from my 'child's' perspective on parenting and you'd learn even more if you took the time to recall your own childhood experiences in GREAT DETAIL.
It might even vastly improve your parenting skills to remember how it was for you as a child and what helped you and what didn't.
DO YOU REMEMBER????

"6 year old would make a lousy parent, don't you think?"
.....depends on the person's depth of character! might be a better parent (older child caring for younger siblings) than many 'adult' parents!

I remember but, I also know that you can not ever truly relate unless you hold a young child in your arms and realize that you are responsible for that child. You feel a love that has never been felt before....a pride..........words cannot even express how much a person changes after having a baby...the joy, the love, etc.
You may give a perspective from a child's point of view......but you will never be able to truly relate to a parent and a parent's love until you are one. Sorry, that's just the way it is and you will never understand or agree with me until it happens to you...then you will see now I know what they are talking about.

I more than remembered, I kept a diary, I was molested by a Catholic priest, My Mom beat me for being caught walking home and whispering into another second graders ear.
We were opposite sex, no really, she had sex hang ups, but allowed me to be molested by Father Ernest HillS.S.T And did nothing....Because She was Catholic!!!
I grew up in Saint Patrick's Parish Stoneham Massachusetts. The Infamous Father Shandley, It was his first parish assignment there, Father White,Father Toomie Toomy, and Father Ernest Hill(Girl Predator)
Do you know what my parents did???????????????????
They accused me of being a liar searched my room for pictures of Fr.Hill and destroyed them.
They emptied my joint savings account with them because I was going to use the money for defense against the Church.
My Children, now 32 and 27, and my grandchildren 8&6&.2months will never suffer what my parents allowed.
They will always be loved and protected.
On my F..... Fathers death bed, the closest got to an appology was this" If I could take back all the money I donated to St. Patricks, Stoneham, Massachusetts, I Would!"
Some consulation, for the parents whoshould have protected me! I hate them and resent them in life and one in death!
Never will my babies suffer again if I can help it!
Most heart felt parent, broken hearted child!

When I was a child, I thought as a child. But now I know that was not always the best way.

You have a point to an extent, but a 6 year old would make a lousy parent, don't you think? We've already seen on this site that a 17 year old can.

I agree with what you are saying to some extent. See I am sorta stuck in the middle. I can see things as both a parent and a kid. i was 18 when I had my daughter. She is now four and I am 22. Sometimes it helps to think like or remembering being a kid, sometimes it doesnt. As children we do not know or understand alot of the rules, and why they are important. As an adult you do.

ummm ok, yes I do remember, I am a parent and trust me your out look on things change once you become a parent. I want my daughter to succeed and do better in life than I did. So no you don't know what it's like until you are an actual parent. I'm not trying to be a smart @.. either just stating an opinion which I'm sure most parents are going to agree with me on.
