First of all I never think all Hispanics are illegal, that's stupid.I know better. There are many Hispanics where I live and in my neighborhood. We visit each other and entertain in one anothers homes.
And as for only Hispanics doing the dirty work here in American ,that's simply not the truth. While there are countless immigrants that are here in the US from many different places, here in AZ our immigrants are from Mexico.I know people on both ends of the economic scale.
Several of my Mexican American neighbors own business, one is a doctor and her husband is a stock broker, they all employ legal immigrants to work in their homes and yards.I on the other hand have a German lady that is our house keeper and our lawn maintenance is done by a man from Japan, his 2 helpers are both black..In AZ its very very hot so its hard dirty work to maintain lawns and sprinkler systems.
I own an Arabian horse Farm.my employees,I have 10 full time men. They are all Mexican from Chihuahua.I have sponsored all with green cards and in January 2 will become American citizens..I trust them with my prized horses and I never have a worry about their ability to do their jobs. They both are buying homes and looking forward to being Americans.
They know my views of anyone that's illegal and they say they feel the illegals need to find a sponsor and become legal Its so much better now because.they have no fear of the INS.and they cant be exploted by anyone ,because they have papers..
I never look at anyone as if they were scum,I respect all people that treat me with respect.Maybe you expect that and even if they arent you read that in your mind.Yes I am fully against any illigel immigrents coming to this country but if you are legel i welcome all.And I would never treat you honey with anything but respect.Im a lot older than you I know,I didnt say smarter, and I can tell by talking to or listening to people if they are legel or not, theres a certain look in the eyes that betrays the heart. But I still would never disrespect anyone, ever.
Please excuse any spelling ,I was in a hurry

I am sure that it is unfair the way you are treated. Believe it or not, I feel for you and your mistreatment.
But you do have to admit - part of the blame has to fall on the shoulders of the illegal Mexican immigrants. Why? Well, if it weren't for them, I am sure that your rude treatment would be cut in half at the least. Much of that resentment has been brought on by illegal Mexican immigrants coming into this country, spouting about how proud they are at being Mexican, and then using our government programs to help them survive in this country. It is somewhat disheartening.
I do make a conscious effort not to judge others, and when I encounter people of hispanic descent, I do try to treat them as I would anyone (how do I know their history?). But I think that we white Americans don't shoulder all of the responsibility for the mistreatment of the hispanic population. I think to find some of the blame, one must look right at their fellow hispanics that happen to be here in this country illegally.
As for the illegals doing the "dirty work", I really think that is a load of crap. I live here in Wisconsin, and there is nothing but farms and farmers around here (except right in the cities that are scattered in the farmland). There are a lot of farmers in this state, and I would even go as far as state that more than half of the population of the state are farmers/agricultural professionals. And you know something that is funny? I don't see any Mexicans working here in the fields, picking the rocks during the spring planting season, bailing hay in the heat and humidity, milking cows and staying in the barn to make sure the frigid cold doesn't kill the livestock (it can get rather cold here), and weeding the gin sing fields (can't allow the weeds to over run the crop - at over $100 per pound just for the seeds, the crops are rather valuable). You know who does this work? Certainly not the hispanics - there aren't a whole lot up here. Yep - it's us caucasians out there. So before you go and start passing judgement (like you are so angry at others doing to you), maybe you need to think things through - and don't generalize. That is the biggest error one can make.

First, we need to remember that not all Hispanics that are here in the U.S. had to immigrate at all. Puerto Ricans are American citizens from the very moment they are born. Second, you're going to have to ignore the idiots who look at you like you're scum. There are always going to be idiots. Third, you are right. More people DO need to remember that Mexicans aren't the only illegals here and I can imagine that the "others" are much more dangerous simply because most people aren't thinking about them. Finally, you give the impression that the only work Hispanics do is dirty work. Do you do "dirty work?" My husband is a computer programmer. I had friends from Mexico who were here legally who had three degrees and spoke three languages. They didn't do the "dirty work" either.

Nobody has a right to complain, if you're american, you're american. However, where I live there happens to be alot of "americans". As in hispanic people that were born here (1st generation), yet are living as if they are mexican nationals. They
fly the mexican flag on their house, refuse to speak english, and genrally hate all things american. They all live together, with all the business signs in spanish, and give you a hard time if you're not like them. (and not just mexican, many other nationalities do this as well) It's these kind of people that are scum. If they don't want to live here they should go back.
I think it's this kind of image that's confusing the generally ignorant middle america.(things that confuse them--anger them)
So, no sweetie, you're not scum and nobody has any right to complain about hard working americans like you.

WE ALL no that all ready, people that are treating you bad you just have to ignore, their are people that don't like black people either. but they no they were born here and they no you were born here also. And the Hispanics don't do all of Americans dirty work quit telling lies, their are illegal Mexicans that are making more money then I am. I have cleaned houses and scrubbed toilets also, some do construction which is not a dirty job it is a good paying job, landscapers some are making 15 an hour, so don't give me that bullsh*t. Their are Mexican Americans in professional jobs also. White people have been doing dirty jobs since the begining of America up until now. I don't see any Mexicans working in the sewer plants and cleaning and repairing pipes it's white men, and you can't get any dirtier than that, so get off your band wagon bullsh*t.

Crystal, it is not right that someone that way and you are right in as far there are also illegal that are from other countries, but the problem is that Mexican are 85% of the illegal population in this country and illegal from all the southern Latin countries are 90% of the illegal population. It also takes more of them to do what it use to take one American worker to do. That is why they call it a Pack of Mexican doing that work.
So you have to understand the sentiment of the American citizens including Hispanic who are just plain feed up with these illegals and the sentiment is rapidly growing. If this problem continues this country could go into anarchy. Then we will have a real problem.
Anyone that says these illegal are a benefit to this country are just plain lying! They are causing major economical problem to to the taxes payer and the future of this country.

As a person of Hispanic origin (born in the USA, like you) I can understand your frustration with some of the treatment we receive at times. At this point you have a decision to make: are you giving your power to those that despise us (for whatever reason) OR chose to accept the fact that some individuals in this world just don't get it. If you take a more proactive posture you will see that our country is made of wonderful, caring human beings and that, while not perfect, this is the best nation in the World. Just keep your chin up and move on to more important things (like your family, your work, your health, your community and so on). Keep your eyes on the prize, my amiga.
Food for thought.

Have you been to LA, or south Texas. The illegal population growth is bankrupting these boarder cities. And Americans will do those hard working *** jobs but not for 5.15/hr. (or less) The illegals are keeping wages low. Job like hotel maid service could pay 10-12/hr but not when there is an endless supply of illegals willing to do it for 5.15.
Maybe you are too far from the front lines of this issue to understand both sides? Have you saw what Mexico city looks like? We don't want La to look like that. and Indianapolis to look like LA in 20 years.
As far as you being born here and getting dirty looks, that to bad but its just the way it is. If we don't get this illegal population explosion under control it will only get worst thou.
Clothes make the man/woman. Dress like business professional and those look will go away. Perception is reality.

Its part of the American experience to be xenophobic. Just look back a 100 years ago when the English and Germans were looking down at the Irish and Italian immigrants. Sadly, there will always be politicians who think they can get a few votes by blaming people that can't really fight back. Its a whole lot easier for a congressman to blame illegals as the reason for unemployment then to tackle real issues like changing financial policy. But just you wait a generation or two when the kids of the immigrants become a significance voting block. Seems like this is happening to California already and we're all the better for it.

Why be so angry? Not all Americans look at Hispanic people in the light you believe you're being spotted in. here is my complaint. I'm a white woman, I'm in love with a man of different ethnic background. Neither of us have a problem with our relationship, I recently found out I'm pregnant, and for some reason I'm now being tried and convicted as a Nigge Lover. This has been my first inter-racial relationship, and to be honest I don't see color when I look at him. All I see is the man I love and the father of my unborn child. Anyhow, More power to you and more power to me, because we can both see past physical differences. Take care, and God bless.
