Well, I would say that you should join an organization of some kind. I was a band nerd in high school, without that family setting, I don't know that I would have survived. You don't have to join band, but find something that interests you. You'll probably learn something, you'll meet people with the same interests, and it looks great on college applications.

Also, studies have shown that in high schools and as well as colleges and universities, students are more likely to graduate and be much more sucessful if they are involved in some sort of extra-curricular activity (that includes sports).

But, if things don't go as planned, just remember it's only four years. Right now that seems like forever, but I've been out of high school for four years, four years is nothing, trust me.

well i just started school as a freshman this year to so hi! it really isn't that much different from jr. high. or middle school. just a few different people in the halls. but do remember to keep your locker clean this will help you more than you think! i am in a two classes with my friends and the rest really aren't scary. the first day it was a little hard but i am totally used to it now. it can be hard to find your classrooms for first but don't be afraid to ask a teacher for help finding it. everyone understands your just a freshmen! keep everything important such as your schedule or locker combo where you can easily reach or find it. and last of all....RELAX highschool is fun and not scary at all! i thought it would be but boy was i wrong. with highschool will come some of the best years of your life and some of your best memories. good luck!

wow i'm just the person to talk to. i just started highschool 2 and 1/2 weeks ago. its only scary b/c we all think that the upper classmen know we;re freshman. they don't know that we're freshman. so my advice to u is to act like u know where everything even if u don't. DO NOT ask another student how to get somewhere ask a teacher. school work u really need to keep on top of. this is where it matters. keep ur future goals in mind. social life oh my. just make a promise to yourself that u won't hang with th wrong crowd and do drugs or have sex. GOOD LUCK.

i am gunna be a sophmore this year and last year i was so nervous. well it is deffinatly different because there are a lot of new ppl and it can feel overwhelming but just be urself and you'll make new friends and keep old ones. for homework and stuff always stay on top of ur school work never slip behind. some ppl say freshman year doesn't matter for grades but it does. so stay on top of your school work. GOOD LUCK! you'll have fun.

well... this is my 3nd week of freshman year... im a cheerleader so i dont have a social life during the week. it's all games and practices but... on the weekends... talk about parting with the football players!!! lol!!! anyhoo... so basically if you're in a sport or club, that's what it's like. if you're not... then i dunno. it's just like middle school. only it's like being a 6th grader all over again. and no they really dont pick on freshmen that much. just dont like walk too fast in the hallways so that you like bump into one of the older kids... RESPECT YOUR UPPERCLASSMEN!!! dont get on they're bad side or you WILL get shoved in a locker. it's beter to just be quiet around them. well i could write more but i just got home from a game so i need a shower. so have a great day in high school. you'll be fine i promise!!!

A teacher is impressed by any student that tries their best to complete assignments, respects the teacher and pays attention. If you do this other students who do the same will respect you. Don't be afraid to ask the teach for help. Your social life will evolve from good school efforts.
