this is a hard thing to say.

i think that these decisions are not made before something happens.

many martial artist take an oath to protect the helpless, and i have taken this oath,, but this does not mean that i will get myslef killed to help someone that i do not know.....or would i.

i know that if it was a child's life on the line that i would without even thinking about it. already got hit by a speeding car near a playground because i yanked a kid out of the road when he chased his ball into traffic, luckily for me the car was small and the speed limit was 15, he was doing about 25 or 30 i guess...anyhow it hurt like hell...but it would have killed the kid.

i have been stabbed for trying to stop a man from rapeing a woman....

but i never really thought in either situation,,this could end up in my death..it was always just an impulse decision to do the right thing when noone else would or could.

i think that if i sat down and thought about it and basicaly said

person A is going to shoot person B in the face with a shotgun.
i can see this and have the time to walk over and stop it but i know that person A is going to shoot me instead....well i guess that person B is going to have a bad day..i will gladly describe person A to the police...sorry about your luck...however if person B were say 5 or 6 years old..i would hope that i would take the shot, i do not think that i could live with myself if i did not.

I would sacrifice my life to save many souls to the lord if he was so to ask. I would not know about saving a strangers life and losing my own until faced with the situation.

Honestly it depends on the circumstances. I'm certainly no Jesus. Maybe if my husband were home for my children (but not with me, because he would sacrifice himself to save me) I think there is a good chance I would. This isn't something you know the answer to until you're faced with the situation.

If by "sacrafice" you mean exchange my life for another's, then no, I wouldn't

I may go to extreme efforts to save a life, perhaps even put my life at risk to do it. But my primary goal would be to save a life, not exchange one for one. I used to teach lifeguards and I was involved in a large company's Emergency Response Team. One of the many things I was taught was that, in an emergency situation, we DO NOT create more victems by blindly jumping into danger. We go in with a plan to get us OUT!

Would I sacrifice my life to save my wife, kids, & grandkids? I have no doubt I would, but I wouldn't throw my life away needlessly.

That would be dumb. I don't like strangers. The last time we had strangers around here I stared at one of 'em 'til he just fell over and died. Right there in the bathroom.

I wouldn't sacrifice my life for anything. I'd sacrifice one of my cousins instead.

People may say they would, but only that "moment of truth" would affirm that. I didn't think I had a fear of heights until I went cliff jumping, and it took me half an hour before I could do it. You don't get time to practice for the real deal. However, God, and God alone can give us the courage to do so if necessary, or if in His will.
