The main dishes of my country are pizza, pasta and bread, all rich of carboydrates but obesity interest less than 0,5% of the population.
What kind of idea of diet u have?

The people of this country ,the USA ,changes their minds about what is the latest reason why Americans are so fat.
It used to be a Low Calorie diet was the only way to lose weight,then it was a Low Fat Diet,now it is the Low Carb diet craze.
Americans are a fast ,"want it now" society. They might lose weight quickly but eventually they gain it back again by falling back into bad habits.
One reason why Americans are so obsessed with their weight,and why they are overweight,is because American woman are out in abundance in the workplace and are too tired to fix a good home cooked meal when they come home from work.
American woman are also lazy and ignorant when it comes to the kitchen,(I am sure they are exceptions but few and far between).
I am a single guy and have dated many American woman and most of them,9 out of 10 eat fast food everyday,or they survive on eating out by guys taking them out for dinner.
When I date a woman I sneak a peak in their ice box or fridge as we call it here.
When I see take out food containers from restaurants,I usually make it as my last appearance at this woman's house.
Americans are just looking for something to blame their obesity on,and the convenient reason right now is carbohydrates.
They also blame Pepsi,Coke and soda pop as another reason for obesity.
It is funny that the Chinese drink Pepsi,Coke and soda pop but their obesity rate is very low also.
When have you ever seen an overweight Chinese man or woman?
I don't think I ever have .

It would be nice if more American woman would learn how to cook home cooked meals that are not in a box like they do in your country and other countries in Europe and Asia.
No wonders many Italian men stay at home till they are almost 30..I just read that somewhere.

lets face facts... we're a lazy, yet constantly on the go instant gratification society. we're spoiled when it comes to food, information and convenience. when was the last time anyone here really said, "gee, lets go for a walk to the store?" instead of getting in car and driving 3 minutes away. We eat too much, too fast and in a lot of cases don't enjoy food. Some days I think we'd be better off if we could skip meals and just get an IV for sustenance. We need an excuse for our behavior and since carbohydrates are easily stored as fat when unused, they bear the brunt of our excuse making.

If you have read this far and are not completely offended, good. I am just as guilty as the next person and I compliment everyone who DOES walk to the store and has self control over snacks and portion size and eats right. I think we're all in a big hurry to go nowhere these days and our eating habits reflect that.

Feel free to agree or disagree, that is my take on things. I am a professional chef with a fine dining background, and still people who order well done meat and want it in 6 minutes AMAZE me. Life's too short to rush through it!!!

Diet ideas? How about moderation and getting back to basics, cook with your children or loved ones, its worth it!!! :-)

The problem isn't with carbohydrates. Our problem in the USA is with simple carbohydrates, as opposed to complex carbohydrates found overseas. Most of our pasta here is processed, and the whole grains are taken out of the food before we buy them in the grocery store. Also, we eat a lot of buns that aren't whole grain, and bread that isn't whole wheat. These are the carbohydrates that are a problem for us. We eat unnatural white rice instead of brown rice, for example. Combine that with a lack of excercise, and Americans are fat and have no idea why.

i believe that's the important reason behind a lot of ailments linked with being overweight. frankly maximum persons are over weight because of over-ingesting, undesirable nutritional options and absence of exercising in u.s.. if i hear some different person saying " I extremely have a thyroid situation "!! yeah properly, it is diverse those with thyroid complications unexpectedly. corn syrup is the worst element u can put in ur body, it can't also be processed suitable, it is why people earnings weight regardless of the reality that in the adventure that they have got slightly of it. there should be regulations hostile to making use of it, it motives too many complications, they even placed it in infant formulation. that should not be properly. i purely devour organic and organic

I'm not from US, but I think it is because Italy has grappa (my favorite drink).

I have been to several Italian restaurants and the main thing that I've noticed is that the portions are small, just enough to fill your stomach. However, if you go to Pizza Hut and other American Italian restaurants, the portions are big. They really gorge down the food.

Medical science has shown that diets high in carbohydrated increases a person glucose production. If a person is not active enough to utilize this glucose (energy) it stores it as fat. The biggest culprit of this is sugar.

Because of marketing my high-protein diets in the past couple of years. Thankfully, those diets are no longer the rage but the view that carbs makes you fat still persists. In reality, Americans are fat because we eat way too much.

America needs to learn portion control.

I think Americans don't understand how much the Mediterranean dishes are healthy. because these countries used olives & olive oil,tomatos,parsley etc. which are very healthy and vital for your heart.
also, Americans are lazy people,they don't get out & walk. everybody owns a car. they only care for themselves & not the family. which is also an unhealthy life style.

A lot has to do with genetics and heredity but overall, we eat too much and don't do enough physical activity to balance it out.

They say that and its not true the reason all of us in U.S.A are fat is because we eat junk and don't exercise.Jesus loves!
