So now it looks like plates expire on 7/2006 instead of 8/2007

The following applies to California DMV:
Even though it is supposed to be on the right corner, it would be ok on the left side, as long as you have a month sticker to go on the other side.

To fix the problem, either:

1.) Fill out a form (REG 156) to request a replacement Year sticker. It will cost $16. Rememmber to also ask for a month sticker (they won't give it automatically) since it is covered up now.

or 2.) Take the current registration in to DMV and simply request a new month sticker. It won't cost anything, and there will be no form to fill out. Your year and month stickers will be reversed, but so what? They will both be there.

Obviously option # 2 is a quicker, cheaper, easier option. Good Luck. And next time, pay attention!

It does not matter. The girl with the blonde comment is correct.
The cops will not ding you for registration in the wrong corner.

Plus, who is to say that you put it in the wrong corner? Maybe everyone else put it in the wrong corner and you put it in the correct one.

Don't lose sleep over it. Do not try to move it because they are designed to disintegrate if you peel them off. This prevents illegal aliens from stealing them.

I would leave it where it is. you can't peel it off without it being ruined. If the Dmv has another answer, I'd like to know. in other words from experience, do NOT peel it off and superglue it. once you try to peel it off it is ruined for a reason.

You can probably buy another sticker for a minimum fee. You can do this in my state. Check your dmv web site/

Avoid all police...you WILL be arrested!

Just kidding! ;)

I really don't think it is a big deal. An honest mistake...don't worry too much...but i too would like to know what the DMV has to say about it!

I did that for fun about 5 years in a row. No one ever noticed and no one ever commented. I don't think it is a big deal.

You could carefully peel it off and superglue it to it's correct spot.
