Personally I don't see how a cockatiel could possibly make enough noise to be that offensive. I suspect they wanted to take the bird away anyway and used that as the excuse. Remember the old adage that any excuse is good enough if you want to do it anyway ?
Did you take good care of the bird or did you let it fall to them to do it ?
Are they opposed to getting another bird ?
Why did they take the bird secretly ?
Didn't they realize what the bird meant to you or care ?
Where is the bird now and is it possible to get it back ?

With all due respect, I think it's extremely inconsiderate the way this was handled and says more about your parents than the bird.
I know you loved it but would another bird fill the gap some day ? I think I'd try that, unless of course your parents objections will make it impossible.
Try this. Borrow somebody's Sun Conure - they're bright and beautiful with a sweet disposition but are very noisy. Almost any other bird, by contrast, will seem extremely quiet. Bring one home.

Maybe the didn't realize just how attached you were to your bird. I would hope that they would not get rid your pet without telling you first, but maybe there is another reason?? Birds can make some people very sick, especially people who have certain health problems. I think the best thing to do is to sit down with your parents and talk about it, without yelling, and tell them that you are disappointed with their decision. If the bird was creating a health problem, then you should have at least been told of what had to be done. If the only reason they gave the bird away was that he was too noisy, I think that is rude and insensitive and I as a parent would NEVER do that to my child. You loved your pet, remember the good moments and move on.

I'm having a hard time with this one - it leaves me with a lot of questions about your family. Under the circumstances, if you are telling the truth (which I doubt) you definitely don't want to get a new pet.

MAYBE... now that I think about it - you are not taking care of it and it is loud because it is lonely and needs attention! YES! Now I get it. Next time your parents let you have a pet, make sure you pay attn to it. Birds do NOT do well alone. They need you, or another bird with them. Or maybe I am wrong. Need more info. But, it's sad anyway, to lose your pet. Sorry.

You should tell your parents how you feel and ask them to please go get your bird. They had no right to get rid of your pet with out permission, even if you are still a child. And even if the bird was noisy. Tell them I said "SHAME!!!!!!"
