Depends if it's for punishment or pleasure. If you are talking children, then, I'm not for that, maybe a swat on the butt, but not past ten years or so.
Now if it's for some kinky sex, with two consenting adults, then I suppose the sky is the limit. That could be fun.

I think children do get too old for a spanking. I think once a child reaches the age of 12 they are a bit old for a spanking, and other methods of dicipline comes into play.

Trust me, there are much better ways to discipline a child then spank them. I am a daycare teacher and obviously we are not allowed to spank. I find that the children who are spanked at home seem to love and have more respect for us than their own parents. Do you want that? You need to talk to children and explain to them why what their doing is wrong. you have to do logical consequences.
If they coloured all over the wall should you ....
a) spank them
b) make them clean it
The answer is obvious. Trust me, after a half hour of scrubbing a wall, they will never do that again.

When the psychological dynamic goes from being sorry they did wrong to I can't believe my parents are spanking me, that would be when they are too old.
Obviously you can't spank an older child unless you actually want to humiliate and damage them.

Yes, 8 is getting too old. Mostly spanking only works for preschoolers.

Yes. It's ridiculous to spank a teenager. Actually, I don't think spanking is suitable discipline for children, period. God gave us brains so that we could use them. Resorting to spanking doesn't make use of our intellect, just our brawn.

I think spanking is for much smaller kids. You when you explain something but they just don't get it. Well spanking will get yoru point across. Once they comprehend they did wrong i don't think they should be spanked. At this point grounding and taking away priveleges will work well

depends on the context. i enjoy a good spanking once in a while, but for a child, i feel that it is unnecessary and teaches the child that violence is a feasible and acceptable way of getting what they want.
