Oh Boy, I am setting myself up for a CRAZY Label Here.
Well, I have had horses,dog,goats,cats,pigeons,pythons,cocktails,and Iguanas.
Yes, They all talk, and I understand most of what they say.
BODY LANGUAGE is a great part of Animal speak. I have over the years learned the body language. Also the intonations of the boofs,cheeps,whinnies,coos etc.!
I now have Border collies, and German Shepherds, so eye contact and facial expressions reveal as much as spoken word.
Did I mention the three rats, and Weep-Weep the guinea pig?
I think the point is we all can communicate with each other one way or another, IF WE WANT TO!!!
Right NOW the Basset,Border collie,Shepperd are communicating the fact that if I do not let them in out of the Massachusetts RAIN, then they will eat me when they get me! Bye!

If your talking about other animals besides man Whales, Dolphins one species of Apes communicate by audio sounds, their words. Saw were Navy identified some patterns that can get classified as words. Forget exact number. Think 30 was said, but not sure, Sure Apes were thought sign language and they communicated with trainer. Read one story how one Ape had pet cat that died and Ape told trainer how sorry it felt.
