Does the south beach diet work? How about if i play sports all the time and am very active? and how does the south beach diet work without just buying their book, links would help thanx

The South Beach is definitely a thumbs up ! You will learn to eat the right carbs in the right portion sizes. There is lots of info online like recipes etc

You don't need to buy the book, but basically it is all about making healthy choices. ie low fat low cal low carb. I tired it but focused mainly on the low carb part, but unfortunately unless you keep this way of life hard to keep off. I have found the best thing for me and what I realisticly could do. I have lost almost 30lbs and have kept it off. I basically make healthy choices and eat a balanced diet. I really watch sugars, I eat whole grain food, cut out sodas, no fast food, and eat lean meats, lots of veggies and what the extra stuff like butter oils, condiments....It may sound like a lot, but really its taking your fav foods and making the healthier. I'm not saying that I never eat bad cause I do...just don't make it a daily habit! I ate sun a chesseburger, shake and onion rings for lunch. But for dinner I had grilled chicken and rice. Find what works for you :)

Few of my friend did it and very successful. You eat a lot of protein on this diet, so excercise fits in perfectly.

I would suggest buying a book if want to do it, you want to do it right.
