I just finished a summer school class, where for some reason the instructor did not like me. I think I reminded him of his ex-wife. But I made up my mind, he was not going to get the better of me.

I read everything before class, I knew and answered every question he asked.
The way I see it, what did not kill me made me better.

I learned more because of him. Your choice: Your teacher can win, or you can be better.

Teachers are people to. Which sadly means that some of them are subject to petty judgments and prejudice. Try talking to her face to face. Express some concerns you have with the class and state that you want to have a positive learning experience and good relationship with her as your teacher. Don't come across as pandering or as aggressive as the whole approach could backfire.

If you feel that a conversation with her wasn't effective, try and speak to your guidance counselor. Explain the situation and what you have done to approach her. They may call a group meeting to work things out.

Should none of the above work, try and transfer classes. Just make sure that no one ever hears you saying anything bad about her. You'll end up looking bad then.

Be honest with yourself: does she have a good reason to pick on you? Or is there something about you that she dislikes, that you can't change?

Some schools allow students to change teachers at the beginning of the year. Go to a parent with a (written) list of reasons why this teacher is unreasonable. Try to have a parent who go to the school and have you changed.

I had one teacher who hated me because of where my parents were born, so it's possible to have a legit beef.

My advice is to stay after class one day and ask her about it. Let her know that you feel like she is picking on you and you feel hurt by it. Ask if there is something you did to make her dislike you, tell her that you hope to get along with her and learn a lot from her class. Basically suck up to her but in a mature way. Don't whine, just be very matter-of-fact about it. As long as you are serious about your education and not goofing off in class, she should take you seriously. (Unless she's one of those people-hating teachers who's sole goal in life is to make people miserable... but even those type have a soft spot if you know how to get to it!)

If she doesn't treat you better after that, I'd definitely talk to a higher authority, like the principle or a guidance counselor or something. Good luck!

Have your parents to write a letter, addressed to principal.
In the letter write everything that has happened. Then ask what is principal going to do about it?
Most people don't know that 'talking' to school staff doesn't work. They can always say you didn't talk to them. The rule is 'always do everything in writing'.
That way, the school will HAVE to address the issue. If they don't, you can take further legal action because they are violating their 'good business practice' ethics.

I'd also suggest staying on good behavior. Sometimes teachers think students will be bad and treat them different. Also, you may be judging them, its ok everyone does it. I'd give it sometime and if it does seem like she is picking on you I would talk to family, friends or school counselors.

hmm.
just stay low and keep any "side" comments to yourself. do not even bother with mumbling it.
fact: the focus goes to the object that makes the loudest noise and/or makes the most irritation; like scratching an itch

never be afraid to ask, and if you can't ask the teacher, go to your guidance counselor or student services, I don't know what grade your in but you should have guidance counselors!

talk with her, like an adult, explain to her it was not you.....if it doesn't work, and you have made an honest attempt, talk with the counselor about getting a new class.
