That's his way of letting you know he's not ready without saying it. It also let's you know not to get any ideas just because his friends are getting married. Going with you to your friends weddings is just a way of letting you know you won't get that. Kinda rubbing it in your face. Stop inviting him to your friends weddings. Don't let the invite include him. What does "away" mean? What difference does it matter if you are married or not to go to a wedding? That's very shady.

Because he has been with you for a long time and he is happy the way the relationship is. meaning he is just the boyfriend and he has a commitment but not one like being married. if he takes you to a wedding you might get ideas in your head about marriage.

Honestly, I would say you arent his girlfriend if he doesnt invite you to functions or he just doesnt want the seed of marriage planted in your head, or he's going there and picking up girls and doesnt want you to know about it. Five years, hmm? If you think about it, thats not really that long considering how long we're alive for. I say drop him and move on. Not trying to hurt you, I've been where you are and all of the above were true.

He either is uncomfortable having you there as his date in front of his friends or family, wants to check out the other single available ladies, wants to cheat, or has something up his sleeve. Either way, this is not normal and you should talk to him about this. 5 years is awhile. Is he serious about you? Because I see no reason for him to not take you. I would be concerned.

It's so he can hit on the girls. Anyone knows that weddings are the best place to pick up.
You need to watch the wedding crashers. It's an awesome movie!

He wants to get drunk and stupid without you around to see him. Perhaps he doesn't want you getting any "wedding" ideas. If you are both invited to a wedding...then you can go too...you don't have to go with him. Just go.
