The money will be counted and placed into evidence. Within a reasonable time, it will be deposited into a bank account (where it usually gains interest), and official paperwork will be filed with the presiding court for the agency to seize the money. Keep in mind that an investigation will be conducted on the money, and where it might have come from. If there are no valid claims on the money (and it was just "found" and not taken from someone) the court will, after a hearing, award the money to the agency who found it. It is then put in the general fund of that agency.

The money is held for a trial to see if was gained by illegal means, if the judge rules in the government's favor, the money is kept by the city/county/state/feds and is either kept in the general fund or distributed to schools as state/local laws dictate. Drugs are incinerated after the case is adjudicated

All the answers I've seen so far (and I've voiced anti-law enforcement sentiments here myself) are total bunk (if you're looking for a serious answer).
Seized funds are counted, bagged and tagged into evidence. If the law enforcement agency goes through the proper channels (depending on jurisdictional issues) the funds may be forfeited and go to various law enforcement programs (or materials such as dept issue firearms and ammo for training-I'm former law enforcement, and our dept filed for forfeiture on some seized funds, and we got M4 rifles and a locking rack in the car issued to us, and ammo to qualify with those rifles. Also, DARE and GREAT programs got a lot of funding).
And, yes-I personally know of a few instances in which seized and/or forfeited funds have been "misappropriated" or mis-handled, but those are rare.

Depends on the cop. First it goes into evidence. Then after a while it goes back into the system, usually the judiciary first, but there is NO doubt that there are dishonest cops out there, but there are dishonest firemen, secretaries, social workers, etc. too.

Once it has been used in evidence, it gets put into a General Fund. This fund is designated for certain ongoing programs, such as DARE and other Community Oriented Police programs...in some cities called COPs.

Generally, once the bustees are convicted, the money goes into the Police department's general fund to be used for whatever they want to use it for.
