No.

Though chocolate will not harm some dogs, it's not a good idea to test it. Caffeine has a dramatic effect on the hearts of dogs, more so than it has on humans. The caffeine in chocolate, depending on the type of chocolate, amount injested, size and metabolism of your dog, could send him/her into a semi-cardiac arrest. Chocolate also contains tocopherals, a toxic substance that can lead to permanent kidney failure and/or death. Sugar is also a known carcinogen in dogs - this means that it causes cancer.

There are many stories out there about "I gave my dog M&Ms his whole life, and he lived." I blow those off, because there are just as many stories like, "I once drank 25 beers in an hour and look at me now!" One, I don't know how healthy those dogs actually were, and two, anecdotal evidence never convinced me. I wouldn't recommend it.

Good luck!

High quantities of cocoa (not chocolate) is harmful to dogs. Our 22 lb dog ate an entire Terry's Chocolate Orange (milk, not dark) and our vet (who was giggling on the phone) wasn't concerned unless she showed symptoms, since it had so little cocoa content. She never did get sick from it, but she certainly had me worried.

I wouldn't even recommend chocolate flavoured dog treats (shouldn't make them). A dog cannot distinguish between a chocolate doggie treat and chocolate... (just like a rawhide shoe versus a real shoe)... don't take the risk.

You could but I wouldn't advise on it. Chocolate is dangerous for dogs and other animals. Few recognize how dangerous it is.
Even small amounts of theobromine, an ingredient in chocolate, can cause vomiting and restlessness in pets. Larger doses can be fatal. While most pet owners expect a dog to develop upset stomach after eating large amounts of chocolate, few realize its toxic potential.

There are 2 types of chocolate: milk chocolate and baking chocolate.
Milk chocolate in sm amts is harmless but over a prolonged period of time can lead to obesity, heart problems, kidney damage and eventually failure.
Baking chocolate (and cocoa) is toxic to most animals due to the fact that it is processed using bromine. Bromine poisioning leads quickly to kidney and liver failure and the caffeine, being a stimulant, can cause heart and, and in some cases, brain damage.

Yes.

But u can only give them something like M&M's because the chocolate in M&M's has been through a certain process at the candy factory which takes out the toxin in it. But, like humans they can only hav a little bit cause they will get sick from all the sugar in them. I learned this from a vet that I know, cause I asked him after my friends dog ate a whole bag of M&M's cause she left them open and the dog got ahold of them, the dog was fine afterwards.

Chocolate, reputedly, contains something that is toxic to dogs. That doesn't stop my little dogs coming to me for the occasional treat however. Maybe I should be reported to the RSPCA for willingly poisoning my pets.

No. The caffeine is extremely bad for their system. However, white chocolate, which isn't really chocolate at all, is just fine. I've even seen white chocolate dipped bones in stores.

That's more like a trick than a treat for a dog.

No. Its poison to all dogs, labs or not. Even chocolate labs can't have chocolate (couldn't resist) but they do make dog chocolate you can give them :)
