No it is not OK. Rice and chicken do not have the vitamins an minerals he needs, not to mention the extra calcium a puppy needs. There are many good puppy foods, out there. Do a little research. If you want to cook for him, there are books that tell you what is best and how to cook them. They also tell you what vitamin supplements he will need for a well rounded diet. Good luck!

Any cheap butcher's meat boiled with rice makes a healthy and economical meal for a dog. Alternatives to a cheap chicken are things like lip. If you know a good butcher, ask for ideas.
The commercial pet food is very dodgy and accounts for stomach upsets and, eventually, internal organ damage. You wouldn't have it in your kitchen if you knew what was in it; nor would you pay the price.
While the dog is very young, chicken is a good idea because it becomes tender very quickly and is easily digestible. In fact, just the juice from the meat soaked into the rice will be excellent nourishment. Whatever you do, when feeding a dog of any age with poultry, make absolutely sure there are no bones.

If you got the advice from a reputable breeder or a vet then I would stick to it. When we had a boxer as a pup that's exactly what we were told to do and he was full of energy and very healthy. Then you wean them onto different foods as they get older.
You hear lots of horror stories of what is in this pre-packaged pet food. Some of the good ones are based on rice - (e.g. Eukanuba lamb and rice) - so it can't be bad!!

i have a lovely staff
We feed our staff on dried biscuits and Chappie ( even though its the cheapest, most dog trainers including local police dog trainers reconmend it as it isnt full of gravy and crap like the others)
Never give them too much human food, it can cause probs
Just try chicken and rice Chappie, dog food in a can , ideal

Yes Chicken and rice is fine. Don't feed pork as it has too much salt in it for them.

I gave mine pedigree puppy complete mix and soaked it in warm water. A complete dry food is always better (but at that age it has to be soaked)
I also gave her goats milk which strengthens their bones.

Use the branded puppy food like Pedigree, or Iams. The food has been made with all the nutrients a puppy needs to grow into a healthy dog. Of course you will have to change fro puppy food to adult dog food at around the 6 month period.

Hello, and congrats on getting a Staffie. Rice with chicken is superb for the dog and is exactly what you should give him. Pedigree breeds often have very delicate tummys so you have to start them off gently.

My suggestion would be to go for Burns dog food , but check with your vet what you should be feeding him on. Some dried dog foods carry out experiments on other animal, IAMS being one, also check that out too.
