Ok, didn't mean to have the question mark at the end of a statement--before someone points it out.

Ok, it's funny in a sad, cynical sorta way. But I had to laugh when I read that in someone's answer today.
If only people would not say stuff like that--they just make themselves and whatever group they are associated with look bad.

It is... very. I could use any ancient writing and claim that it is proof of those God(s) as well. Anyone can claim those writings are "Inspired" by those God(s).
And now you will see "Well, the Bible is the Best Selling Book of all time". Which I have yet to see any evidence of. Even if it is... What is popular isn't always right... and what's right isn't always popular. ^_^

No, I don't find it amusing or humorous at all.
Human reasoning is fallible. I suppose you could use that against people that believe in God as well. And yes, some religion is fallible too. But, as many people say that to believe there is no life outside of this universe is an arrogant thought, I believe it is also arrogant to think we existed for nothing with no true purpose. To think we were created by matter or other theories is just that. So the theories shared by atheists and agnostics are just as questionable as religion and Christianity. Though with the argument with agnostics is that they are unsure.
The bible is history, a history to be used to help us through life today. And it is also quite prophetic as well. Though I know anyone that is atheist would laugh at that, it is true. Men did write the bible, but it was inspired by God.
God has a purpose for mankind, to be in His Kingdom. I'd rather believe that and know it is true than to feel I've lived my life in vain. I live, I die and then that is it for all eternity.
Rather than write off the belief of God as a fairy tale, wouldn't it be better to seach for what the truth is? At least if you did research and study with earnest diligence, you could feel confident in your belief that God doesn't exist according to your findings and your own beliefs and you would be respectful enough not to insult people that do believe in the bible and our lives serving a greater purpose in life.

The funny part is that according to christians, god is an intangible, omnipresent, , omniscient, omnipotent being who created all life, yet words in a book can prove his existence.
Equally ridiculous are agnostics who say "show me proof and I'll believe you."
You can't prove god's existence. It is impossible. Those who believe are going to believe, and those who don't, wont. End of story.

The bible is seperated into different types of books. There are books of wisdom. Books of law. Stories with morals. Geneology (thus the ____ begat ____ over and over and over). However, one common theme is to be found throughout the bible. It is a written account over thousands of years of God's revelation to man. Not only does it count for the jewish people, it counts for the gentiles as well.
What you just said is like saying: Just because the holocaust is in a history book doesn't mean it happened. That's dumb....
No... It's an account. Written by men, about what they witnessed. It's important.

The Bible was written by men, just like any other piece of literature (well, except for the literature written by women!)
That's like saying, "Because I said so." Compelling enough if you happen to agree, but not much of an argument if you don't agree to begin with.

A little of the ole circular reasoning here!
Let's throw logic out the window -
It's pathetic how people fall for things like this.

Even dogs need a master. (A man who builds his home on sandy soil is a fool.) ( Woman keep silent!) ( A house divided can not stand.) ( You cannot have two masters you shall either love one and despise the other.) (Be not luke warm, for I will spat you out of my mouth, for that is an abomination) (A fool in his heart has said there is no God, for they have saved themselves.)( Cast not your pearls before swine lest they become trampled under foot.) The Bible warns of people like you and you shall have your reward.

Actually no...because non believers and believers... should all know that Jesus Christ did exist. He is a historical figure...but now u have the choice to believe whether He is God or not. I believe He is God. I do not find this amusing.

you'd think that if "God" thought it necessary to show proof of himself he'd etch some more commandments in stone, and not the kind that only John Smith can see with magical glasses before they mysteriously float back to heaven

Yeah - circular logic... A fairy tale is proof that a character in it exists. How silly.
There is absolutely no historical evidence that suggests Jesus existed, and even less than none that god ever existed.
