It just means that many Christians are arrogant enough to think that the deity they worship is the only "true" one in the whole universe.
See how they respect others' beliefs & non-beliefs.
Anyway, not all Christians behave this way. Thxfully.

It is what we do.
We are all in search for our meaning of God.
It is that part of the self that wants to know. But the greatest of it all is that its all God............
only when we put judgement to it or try to determine a certain position or frame work in which we think we can try to explain who or what God is does its true meaning become less than.
"God" is in its own process of creation/development
Everybody has there own truth of God. However, finding any one correct definition for something that is so vast and in its own divine state of ethereal flux would have say all definitions are correct.
"and it is all beautiful to be here and a part of this knowing"
Such a wonderful question.

You have a great point, since there is only one God, there can only be one correct religion.
The reason there are so many different definitions is because the different church's have all dissented from the correct one. Christ had the true gospel on the earth when He was here...as his apostles died, the gospel was lost, with exception of few chosen people, until it was restored in its fulness to Joseph Smith through God the Father and Jesus Christ. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only true and living church on the earth today. Most other (at least Christian) churches have bits and pieces of the correct gospel, but not the fulness as does the LDS.

If you ask people to define President Bush, you will get different answers from different people. Does this make President Bush a non-existent entity?

Well, as for the Christian God, the bible states that he is in essence an unknowable being tha tis beyond the understanding of mere humans. This is however uncomfortable to the human mind so they create their own personal image of God.
As for the statement however that there is only one god, that depends on your religion. Not everyone is Christian and there are still many polytheistic religions out there.

The enemies of God want you to believe dispair is mankinds ruling force, that love is sex and soul is rhythm. The friends of God know differently but because God is so hugh and we are so small in comparison that we can only see small parts of him. You have heard the tale of the blind wisemen and the elephant haven't you? Imagine judging the elephant from his tail, or his ears or his smell. That is what you are doing by believing there is only one way to describe God. We who are friends of God know that love is much more than sex because love is giving without expecting a return gift. Soul is more than rhythm because its what God puts into everyone of his creations, and not everyone has rhythm.

In fact, people project their own fantasies, opinions and desires on the concept of "God", that's why there are as many definitions of this word as there are human beingson earth.
